FAQ's - extra weaning advice and information
1.
Can I order the kit as a gift for someone else?
Yes you can! The weaning starter kit is a great gift for anyone who is about to start weaning. Just let us know if you are ordering it for a boy or a girl so that we can try to include the right colour of bib (blue for a boy and pink for a girl) in your kit.
2.
What happens if my computer crashes while I’m ordering the kit, or I get stuck?
Call our technical support team on 0845 680 5819, between 9am – 9pm, Monday to Friday if you have any problems. You’ll automatically receive an order receipt email if your order has been successful. If it hasn’t, you won’t get one and you should try again, or you can call us if you’re concerned.

Can I place my order by phone instead of online?
Yes! Just call our careline on 0800 977 4000, between 8am – 8pm Monday to Friday and they’ll do the ordering for you. And rest assured your credit card details will be safe as we use WorldPay, one of the most secure systems for online ordering.
4.
Something is missing from my kit, what should I do?
Your kit should contain all the items listed below – these are also shown on the Cow & Gate branded wrapper that goes around your kit. If anything is missing, please call our careline on 0800 977 4000, between 8am – 8pm, Monday to Friday and we will send the missing item to you. Where possible we will try to match the colour of the feeding equipment to the sex of the baby, but colours may vary due to demand.

5.
Who makes the pots/spoons and storage containers?

Who makes the splat mat?
The splash mat has been made especially for us and meets the rigorous UK safety standards for items to be used when feeding infants.
7.
If something in my kit is damaged, who should I contact to get replacements?
The delivery slip inside your kit has a contact number and details of what to do if anything is damaged. Just call us on 0845 850 4987, between 9am – 9pm, Monday to Friday and we will send you a replacement out by courier the next working day, providing we receive your request by 2pm.
8.
My kit hasn’t arrived, what should I do?
If you order your kit by 2pm, Monday to Thursday, you should receive it by courier the next day. If your order is placed on Friday, it should arrive on Monday, and orders placed over the weekend should be delivered on Tuesday. Delivery details will be shown in your confirmation email. If we miss this time please call us on 0845 850 4987, between 9am – 9pm, Monday to Friday so we can arrange another time.

I’ve lost my 5 step weaning plan, how can I get another one?
You can order another copy of the 5 step weaning plan by calling our Careline on 0800 977 4000, between 8am – 8pm, Monday to Friday.

What type of plastic are the bowls and spoons made from?
The pots and spoons are made of polypropylene, which means they’re BPA free.
11.
Why are the products labelled from 4 – 6 months when I thought you shouldn’t start weaning before 6 months?
The Department of Health recommends that weaning should start at around 6 months, but in some cases your health professional may suggest starting earlier. All babies develop at their own speed, and shouldn't be weaned before 17 weeks as their tiny tummy can't cope with solid food before then.
Our delicious foods, labelled 4 – 6 months, are free from the allergens (such as gluten) that are not recommended for children under 6 months. If you think that your baby's ready for weaning earlier than 6 months have a chat with your health visitor or GP first.

Can I use the pots in the fridge?
Yes! The pots are perfect for storage in the fridge or freezer. Just remember to put the right amount of food for your baby in a bowl before you start feeding and only save what’s left in the jar or one of the pots, then you can keep it safely for 48 hours. Once there is saliva on the spoon and it goes back in the jar, it reduces how long the food can be stored.
If you’re storing your own home-made food in the pots, follow the safe storage guidelines on www.eatwell.gov.uk. But generally, any previously frozen food should be eaten within 24 hours.

Are the pots dishwasher and microwave proof?
STORAGE AND USE
Do not store or leave pots in direct sunlight or near a source of heat.
Do not store with or allow to them come into contact with solvents or harsh chemicals. Staining may occur if the product is allowed to come into contact with oil-based foods (e.g. oil/tomato based sauces).
Not suitable for use in a conventional oven or a combination microwave oven with the grill feature switched on. Keep all components not in use out of reach of children.
Do not heat food pots in a microwave with lid sealed. Remove lid before placing in a microwave
CLEANING
Clean the product before its first use and every time you use if afterwards in warm soapy water and rinse it clean. You can clean them in the dishwasher, but use the top shelf only.
14.
When my kit is delivered, will I need to be at home to sign for it?
No, when you fill in your order you can state where you’d like the kit to be left, e.g. with a neighbour or in a greenhouse. Please be as detailed as possible with these instructions. Please note, if you do not sign for the delivery any alternative instructions you give would be at your own risk.
15.
When will I be charged for my kit?
You will be charged in full – that’s £15.00 – for your kit as soon as it is dispatched to you.
16.
Can I order a kit and have it sent overseas?
No, this kit is only available within the United Kingdom, e.g. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
17.
How much does delivery cost and how long will it take?
Delivery is included in the price of the kit. If your delivery is placed by 2pm, Monday to Thursday it will delivered the next day. Orders placed on Friday will arrive on Monday and weekend orders will arrive on the following Tuesday. All delivery details will be shown on your confirmation invoice. Next day delivery is not guaranteed to Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and parts of Scotland, the Highlands and Isles - but we will do all we can to ensure a fast dispatch.
18.
What happens if I’m out when my kit arrives?
Unless you have given us clear instructions for a safe place to leave your kit, you will need to sign for it. But, if this isn’t possible, we’ll leave you a note so you can call to rearrange the delivery. If we do not hear from you within 28 days, we will cancel the order and refund your payment, minus any reasonable delivery charges we have incurred. If you are not in for the redelivery, we will leave a card asking you to go to the depot to collect it within 5 working days. After that, the pack will then be sent back to us by the courier.
19.
If I want to return my kit, will you repay the cost of postage?
We’re happy to refund the cost of postage if any of the goods we've sent you are damaged in any way. But if you change your mind and no longer want the kit you can send it back to us for a refund, but we won’t repay the cost of postage.
