Our Privacy Policy
We promise to protect your privacy with our privacy policy, and according to your rights under the Data Protection Act. Our privacy policy tells you why we ask for your personal information, and how you are free to give or refuse your consent. It also explains what information we request, and who else may have access to it. The only personal information we will ever have is what you have voluntarily given to us.
This website is managed by Cow & Gate and its agents for the use of consumers within the UK.
Why do we request personal information?
The main reason we ask for, process and store your personal information is so we can provide you with the services you have requested. These services may include information, updates, questionnaires and competitions.
Cow & Gate or our service providers will ask for and store your personal information for the following purposes:
• To directly provide any services you have requested
• To enable third parties to process and manage your information so we can provide the services you have requested
• For security, administrative and legal purposes
• To update and enhance our website and the services we provide.
Whenever we ask for your personal information we’ll tell you how we intend to use it. We’ll also ask for your explicit consent.
We’ll keep in touch by whichever way suits you best - post, email or telephone. So if you’d rather we only contact you by telephone, only put your telephone number on the form.
Your consent
By registering on our website, you agree to the collection and use of any information you choose to give us, for the purposes we describe above.
Any personal information you give us will be used strictly in accordance with current data protection legislation. Please let us know if you object to us using your personal information in any of the ways we have mentioned.
All our email correspondence has an unsubscribe option so you can opt out of further email contact if you wish.
You have the right to ask Cow & Gate for a copy of any personal information we hold about you. The Data Protection Act stipulates that you must request this in writing, and that this may be subject to a fee of up to £10. The address to write to is: The Data Protection Officer, Cow & Gate, White Horse Business Park, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, BA14 0XQ.
What information do we collect?
So we can provide you with the services you have requested, we store any information you choose to give us. We can do this in two ways:
• Directly from you by your registration details.
• Indirectly from you by information gathered from your visits to our website (read more about cookies below).
What are cookies?
Our website deposits certain bits of information called ‘cookies’ in your computer. A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier which is sent to your browser from our website’s computers, and is stored on your computer's hard drive.
We use cookies to tell us how and when pages in a website are visited and by how many people. They also let us access your information when you 'sign-in', so we can provide you with personalised content allowing you to find exactly what you’re looking for and save searching, time and time again.
Cookie technology does not collect personal or identifiable information. Any information collected is in an aggregate, non-identifiable form. The use of cookies is an industry standard, and many major web sites use them to provide useful features for their customers.
Each web site can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser's preferences allow it. But (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a web site to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites.
You can set your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is added. (Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.) It’s entirely up to you whether you want to enable or disable cookies, but if you reject all cookies, you might not be able to receive personalised information and your experience might not be as helpful as we’d like.
Who else might see my personal information?
Cow & Gate and our agents will not share your personal information with any other company.
We’ll share your information when required to do so by relevant legislation, or court orders. And should Cow & Gate be acquired by another company, customer information may be deemed a transferable business asset, and as such will transfer to the new owners.
What if this Privacy Policy changes?
Cow & Gate may update this policy at any time. However if we do, we will let you know on the Home Page, so you know to check it again.
Links to other websites
If we link to other websites, we do so for your convenience. Please don’t take the links as endorsement by Cow & Gate. We aren’t responsible for the content of any linked websites, and we recommend that you check their privacy policies.
