Sam, nutritionist
I’m a qualified nutritionist and I get a lot of calls from mums who don’t know what to eat during pregnancy or what foods to give their toddler. Rather than just giving out a few recipes, I help mums to understand exactly what foods their baby needs and why. It’s great to know that I’m passing on knowledge that will help them and their baby to stay healthy for life.

My top tips
- Don’t be worried if your toddler likes food combinations that seem weird to you. As long as they have a variety of food groups over the week – that’s great!
- If you are suffering from terrible morning sickness during pregnancy, just eat what you can manage and don’t worry if it’s not particularly balanced. As long as you can keep it down, you’ll feel much better.
- When weaning, don’t be put off if your baby pulls a funny face – it doesn’t always mean they don’t like what they’re trying.
Something to remember
When one of my friends was in early pregnancy she got a little upset about her changing shape which is a shame but really common. Your body is going to change during pregnancy, but as long as you stick to a healthy balanced diet, the changes you see will only be because of the amazing person growing inside of you.
