Jacky, baby care advisor and mum
As a baby care advisor it’s a real pleasure to speak to different people everyday. To identify with some of their experiences makes my job a varied and interesting one that I really enjoy.

My top tips
- It’s nice if your partner’s the first to hold your baby immediately after they’re born as it helps to start building the bond.
- Don’t be too hard on yourself! Having a baby is a big change so don’t try to rush back to your old self too soon.
- Never take any notice of what other babies can do or compare your baby with other mums. Just because one baby is sitting up and another isn’t, doesn’t mean anything is wrong.
About me
During pregnancy it’s important to take it easy and listen to your body. However, I have to admit that the strangest thing my body told me to do during my first pregnancy was to eat coal. During all 3 of my pregnancies, it was chewing on freezer ice!
If you’re anything like me you’ll love your baby’s ability to love you unconditionally no matter what. I love the feeling of someone depending on you and the sleepy smiles they give when they first wake up and you are the first person they see.
