Eileen, paediatric nurse and mum
With over 30 years of experience as a paediatric and neo-natal nurse and two grown-up children of my own, I really enjoy being able to help parents with all sorts of health problems and concerns like food allergies and intolerances. Knowing I’ve made a difference to a family is a great feeling.

My top tips
- Breastfeeding is great once established, but this can take 6-8 weeks so be patient.
- Why not enrol in some baby massage classes. They can be really relaxing for both of you and it’s a great way to make new friends too.
- If your baby starts to reduce their amount of milk and they start playing instead of feeding, they may be teething.
About me
I carried my second child in the heat wave of 1976 and I already had a toddler to run around after. I spent as much time as I could that summer with my feet in my son’s paddling pool helping me and my bump stay cool!
Both my children slept well but looking back I think now that my second baby was allergic to milk as she was very difficult to feed. I wish I had known then what I know now.
