Labour and birthunexpected home delivery

i started with contractions early hours monday morning so i got some sleep then when i woke up went for a bath and then a walk to try and get things moving because i was 4 days overdue. i carried on having contractions all day and night on monday and by tuesday morning they were getting stronger so i phoned my midwife who came out and examined me. i was only 3cm dilated; my contractions started getting more frequent and stronger throughout the day and at 6.30pm my waters went. when my waters broke my contractions got really intense and my birthing partner phoned 999. by the time the paramedics got to my house i had a strong urge to push and madison was born at 7.10pm. we were then taken to hospital to be checked over and we were both fine. madison weighed 7'bs 10oz. i did want a water birth at hospital but im just glad that madison was born healthy

wow, finally someone who went through something similar to me. My daughter(Emma) is 10 months old now but was born at home on the bathroom floor! I was 3days overdue and had had terrible back ache and a few tightenings but was otherwise just carrying on as normal. I have 3 other children and so thought i would know when labour was established enough to go to hospital. my eldest son was the first one up and woke his brother and sister while i woke my husband who got dressed while the kids got ready to go to my parents and i made all the beds and tidied up! I kept feeling a need to sit down and rock then desperately needed to pee, my waters broke on the toilet and after hearing me scream my husband saw her head crown. By the time he had phoned my mum and the paramedics I had delivered her on my own, removed her cord from around her neck and my son had wrapped her in a towel. i didn't even need to push!! at just after 3 am my bathroom was crammed with paramedics , 2 sets of parents, my brother and husband and kids. She weighed 7lb 11 oz and we got to go to bed and stay at home. Not quite the birth I had expected but amazing and my kids all got to be part of it.
