Working when pregnant

dizzy spells?

Ha anyone been suffering from dizzy spells? i seem to get dizzy in the late afternoon,or recently with motion like climbing stairs or travelling in the car. Ive got a doc appointment this week,as i think i may have low blood sugars/pressure....but anyone else getting this?im 26 weeks plus 2 days..
im doing everything i can, sitting down when i get an attack, eating little and often etc but nothing is solving it!

Dizziness usually happens in the later stages of pregnancy. I'm not sure how normal it is at 26 weeks. I'm 36 weeks and feel dizzy a lot, and also suffered from it in my first trimester (I even passed out). I've been suffering from anaemia though which is partly to blame. Definately talk it over with your doctor and insist on having a blood sample taken. Are you taking pregnancy vitamins as these will help?

omg dont talk bout dizzy spells, i had them in my 1st pregnancy but i could cope with them, but with my son, the dr told my i was not to go out anywhere on my own, i couldn't even walk my daughter 5 mins up the road to nursery, the drs never gave an explaination or any advice on how to ease it, i am diabetic so i know bout how it feels when your sugars are low, and it can cause them, but shouldnt be when going up/down stairs or anything, low blood pressure is probably it, although that wazsn't the cause of mine

i use to have to just randomly sit on the floor where ever i was, i did it in the middle of town once and had an ambulance called out, buit there was nothing i could do

hopefully they find a reason for your and a cure, good luck xxx

oh lilo3 sounds awful, hope they wont be that strict with me,i live in a little village, and drive to another one for work....ive been bored enough today stuck at home, because i got told to rest and not drive til ive seen the gp! also really cant afford not to work until then,as got made redundant @ 20wks,luckily a previous employer took me back on for a short term contract but means i dont have any of the entitlememts that i would have had if i hadnt been made redundant! so no work=no pay!

it was bad but only because i didnt find a reason in the first pregnancy, and they checked for everything in the 2nd, so the only hink i could do was nothing lol

but i'm sure they'll find out what it is with you, i'm just a pain when pregnant hehe xxx

thanks girls-ive spoken todoc on phone today, she said its one of three things-viral ear infection (most unlikely one),aneamia,or low blood pressure (most likely) so have to go for bloods tomorrow, and have midwife on mon and results of bloods should be in by then...so roll on monday!!until then ive been told not to drive and avoid being by myself...helpful when everyone i know wrks full time!

They're always full of practical advice :-). If you do feel faint, sit down with your legs apart and put your head between your knees. Hopefully it will stop you from passing out. There's no harm though in increasing your iron intake. I wouldn't recommend taking iron supplements unless you know you're anaemic, but you can top it up naturally with things like red meat, brocolli, spinach, red peppers etc. I would also start taking something like pregnacare anyway. It has iron in it, but has all the vitamins you need throughout pregnancy. I've had 1 cold throughout my whole pregnancy, and usually I catch everything going, so I like to think they work

once u have ur blood test result and it comes out ur sligtly anaemic then they wil pescribe u with iron i was not advsing u just take iron i was sayin if u get pescribed it then ask for medicine as the tablets make u feel really ill x

hey ladies! finally got an answer (sort of anyway) the main reason for my dizzy spells is something called postural hypertension. basically baby has not made herself comfy yet,so keeeps moving putting pressure on the main blood vessels, making me dizzy.such a madam already! have had bloods today too just to rule out the possibility of anaemaia, but dont get results til wed...
midwife also said todo al the things you lovely ladies advised too-small snacks, rest when poss etc etc You really are clever ladies x thanks so much for replying it means a lot, especially when its my first and i dont know what the hellim doing and whats normal and whats not!
