Hi everyone, i recently recieved a phonecall from my hospital regarding my blood test results, apparently one of the results has come back showing a high level of a certain hormone. Although everything on my 12week scan was normal and the measurement at the back of the baby's neck was normal too, the midwife told me that according to my results my baby has 1 in 227 chance of having downs syndrome, appaently the cut off is 250. This has got me realy worried and in about a weeks time i am having a 16week scan and an amnio done. I'm hoping my baby does not have downs but i'm not sure what else it can be. Anyone have any ideas???? I am 24 and this i my first pregnancy so i'm really confused!!!
hi deep
i wouldnt worry to much as you said one of your results came bk as high level of hormones to have a downs its an extra 21 cromasome nothing to do with high levels and and aneo will give you a better clue as they check all cells and cultures them to give you a 100 percent result i hope ths helps a little and gud luck
Hi apple37 thankx for the reasurance
dont worry mine all came back high im 40 now and 32 weeks, latest scan says babs is perfect,my 1st results at age 23 were higher than yours and my daughter whos now 17 was and is just fine as our my others so dont worry, dont the docs worry you so much, scans are far more accurate
hi guys just wanted to let you all know that i had my amnio on monday and i got the result back 2 days later on the wednesday and i'm glad to say it all came back clear. So a big thankyou to everyone for their support especialy apple37 and nettie1234!
I got the dreaded phone call from hospital about the combined results with scans & blood test. Only 1 part of blood test was high, my risk assesment is 1 in 160, risk of miscarriage after amnio is 1 in 100 so close. I have been so emotional about what to do, will I cope. My husband says we will love it no matter wot but all sorts are spinning around my head.
hiya. My friend's results came back 1in 10 chance risk of Downs. She decided to go ahead anyway and she now has a 'normal' healthy 4 year old boy. 1 in 227 isn't that high, u wouldn't place bets on it!! everything will be fine hun, what will be will be xx
