Scans & tests

Ecogenic focus (bright spot on heart)

Hi, I'm worried about this finding at my 20 week scan. Am 39 and had a nuchal fold test giving me odds of 1/610 of Downs. This spot on the heart seen at my 20 week scan is apparently a "soft marker" for Downs. I have been told not to worry and that on it's own, it is insignificant. Anyone else had this or has any advice?

Hi, i'm a 39 year old mum and now 22 weeks, at my 20 week scan the sonographer picked up a bright spot on the baby heart, they assured me that this was nothing to worry about as they measured between the babys toes and other measurements didn't indicate downs, it was still too much of a worry with my age so I had the amnio even though the odds of a downs baby were 540/1, uncomfortable but not painful, hospital were brilliant and have now been told everything is ok! It was a huge worry but am pleased I had the test and can enjoy the rest of the pregnancy without the worry. x
