In pain and worried

Hiya, Im 5 weeks pg and over the last week i have been getting period type pains which i gathered was normal..as the week went on they have become more painful and on 2 occasions really really bad..i had no bleeding with it though. last night i wasn't getting any pains in the evening but felt a little wet, went to the loo and when i wiped i had like a brownish pink discharge, which went after about half an hour and is all back to normal now, but later in the evening i was getting cramping feelings again..the first thing that crossed my mind was i was having a miscarriage but they wont take me in for a scan until im 6 weeks and basically been told to just wait a week and do another test..does anyone have any advice of experiences with similar symptoms that ended in a positive way? by the way this is my 3rd baby and dont think i had cramping as bad with my other 2. Thanks xx

the period type pains are normal, but to be in a lot of pain isnt but doesnt necessarily mean bad news - you may just have experienced a couple of bad cramps.
as for the discharge - that sounds like implantation bleeding - that is totally normal. i had it with both of my children - with my first baby at 10 weeks and with my second baby at 6 and 8 weeks. i also had further episodes of bleeding with my second baby at 23, 29, 30 and 33 weeks. my girls are aged 4yrs and 13 weeks
unfortunately all you can do is wait and see though. i do wish you the best of luck

Thank you for replying, its good to hear things like that I just didnt realise implantation bleeding could happen so late. Fingers crossed it is that. wish i wasnt such a worry wort, its all i can think about now and i feel im getting really down about it. x

implantation itself happens at around 4 weeks but it can take a while for the blood to come out. it is also possible to get implantation bleeding at around 10-11 weeks as that is when the placenta itself implants and that can too cause bleeding.
it is a worry and it is just a horrible time not knowing whether everything is ok. when it happened with my first baby they gave me a scan and confirmed all was well, but when it happened with my second baby all they said was it is common, as long was i wasnt doubled over in excruciating pain and i wasnt bleeding enough to fill a pad, then dont worry. not helpful at all, so i had a long wait until my scan for confirmation that it was all ok second time round

Hi, I had cramps all through the first trimester with my first baby and spotting on and off from 7-17 weeks and my son was fine, it is so worrying though I know. Try to rest as much as you can and make sure they get you in for a scan at 6 weeks, will keep everything crossed for you xxx

i had && gets those kinda pains so i think it must be normal, i had some bleeding and when i went to get it checked out they said its normal for little bits of bleeding and the discarge will happen at times, when u feel in total pain try running a nice bubble bath it will help relax ur whole body so it might make the pain ezze down for u, but if ur really worried and its allu can think about go too the emergancy room they might book u into a early preggaz scan just to make sure everything is fine or if they think its not a good signn they will scan u there n then or do some tests on u but best of luck everything will be fine im sure :) xx
