Bleeding under the uterus

I have just recently had my first scan I was 8 weeks 5 days and the midwife said she has found a little spot of bleeding under my uterus, she explained that it may absorb in my body or may come out as a bleed (brown like dried blood). If it does come out as a bleed I should visit the hospital to get it checked out. This is my first pregnancy and I am very worried, was wondering if anyone else has had or heard about this problem and will it affect the baby?

Hi.... i havent heard of this, n is u still have questions i would go and speak to ur midwife or gp...

I have however had spotting n bleeding throughout this pregnancy (spotting at 6, 9 and 11 weeks and a bleed at 19 weeks) im currently 23+4 weeks.
It is scary when u see the blood, but if its brown it usually means that ur ok... brown is old blood.... its when the blood is red that its a worry (i have this with the bleed)....
if u do start spotting or bleeding contact the hospital and explain what is happening n they will give u a scan which will reassure u...

Also please try and enjoy ur pregnancy n not worry (easier said than done),

Congrats on ur pregnancy xx

Hi, I have this too. On my 5week scan they told me about it and it really worried me but they said it is very common, my friend also had one. At that scan it measured 7cm but I went for another scan at 9weeks because I had some pain and with having previous miscarriages they are monitoring me more, everything was fine and the spot which the sonographer called a bruise is now measuring 2mm so it has absorbed quit a lot. I had abit of pinkish discharge but spotting is normal for this as it will be the bruise coming away, it doesn't always come away it may just absorb into your body. If you have any red blood, like what you'd get on your period then contact your midwife. Don't worry, I know how hard it is but its very normal and will not affect baby :) Congratulations anyway, hope all goes well x

Hi, Thank you for your replies they have really reassured me, I have booked for a private scan at 13 weeks to check on it as my next scan isn't until 20 weeks, hopefully its absorbed! I've had no spotting through this pregnancy and have had no symptoms except sore breasts so been really lucky, let's hope the luck continues. Congratulations to you mummys! X

Do you not get the nuchal translucy test scan then? They do it between 11-14 weeks at the hospital near me, but they don't offer them in some areas. I have one on 5th of march, it can't come quick enough I worry too much. Lucky you without the symptoms, I had really bad sickness from 6weeks but its calming down abit now, but that makes me worry too. I am too paranoid. Just hoping and praying this little one stays in there till its ready to come out. When are you due?x

Hi, I had bleeding at 9 weeks and 11 weeks and was told it was from my uterus. There was no explanation for it, but all turned out ok. Very scary when u see the blood, normally if brown no need to panic, as it I'd old blood. Did not effect my baby at all.x

Hi Bonnie, I was offered the nuchal translucy test at my first midwife appointment at 6 weeks but I didn't want it, I only wanted the dating scan and they gave me it early at 8 weeks. I am lucky having no symptoms but sometimes it makes you think am ~I really pregnant as it doesn't feel like! I am due 9th of September, hope everything goes well for you, when are you due?

Difitz I am glad to hear the bleeding didn't affect baby, I will be so scared to see the blood if it does come out! x

I asked for it because its just another sneaky peak at my baby hehe. Yeah my symptoms have calmed down abit now, although my skin is really itchy & I'm falling asleep really early. I'm due 4th of september. Good luck with everything x
