Pregnancy fashion & beautyStretch mark lotions!!
Hi could anyone tell me the best stretch mark lotion to buy??have had a look on boots website but there are so many to choose from and i am wanting a good one thank you :)
i wouldnt waste your money! they dont work - stretch marks cannot be stopped with creams, getting them is down to skin type and no amount of anything is going to stop them! moisturise your skin with a normal moisturiser. i have stretch marks from having my daughter, they are hardly noticeable a few months after birth and i am proud of them - my baby lines! they are over my boobs and stomach and now i am 25 weeks pregnant with my 2nd, i'm expecting more!
I swear by bio-oil, I bought 3 big bottles online from chemist direct which works out way cheaper than buying in the shops, hubby put it on every night for me and I didn't get one new stretch mark and I was HUGE. The midwife at the hospital even commented that she couldn't believe that I didn't have any being so big!! And I still have a full bottle left in the cupboard! In my first pregnancy I used superdrug vitamin e cream and didn't get very many but I did get some round my belly button and on the tops of my thighs and I wasn't as big in that pregnancy.
But the bio-oil is brill, and you can use it to help fade old stretch marks and scars too :-)))xx
BIO OIL i think livis mum is right if ur going toget stretch marks ur going to get strecth marks it is down to ur skin type but the bio oil can help them fade faster and make them not as bad when u doget them. but u might not get them at all!!!
I used a combination of Bio oil & Palmers Cocoa Butter, never got one stretch mark on my belly, wish i'd used it as frequently on my boobs and hips, cos I did get some there.
I think as you get bigger you have to keep it moist up to 3times a day. And avoid scratching instead massage the cream/oil in. x
My Aunt (she is a MW) told me that stretch mark creams are a waste of money to stop the stretch marks but any moisturising cream does help with how uncomfortable they can be . . she said that the best thing to do was to make sure that you have/had good muscle tone before getting pregnant and to keep the exercise up for as long as possible to keep the tone and therefore your muscles wont give in and let you belly hang out causing the stretch marks LOL
4 children later and she has NO stretch marks on her stomach at all! (she does have them on her boobs tho)
I followed the same principal . .. I am 1 and a half children later (26 weeks pregnant with my 2nd) and I don't have any either :) . . .honestly tho, I just think it depends on your genes

Hi, with my first child some years ago I used baby lotion and that was it. I had a normal size bump and can only assume good skin elasticity as I didn't get any stretch marks on my bump at all. I did get some on my boobs and also my bum but I didn't use much cream here as I didn't think they would be that affected. Now pregnant with my second child (36 weeks), I still don't have any but I have had very sensitised skin. I had to stop using bubble bath for 4 months although I am fine now. I used bio oil but even that irritated in the end! I use Boots version of E45 and it works just fine. I have no stretch marks, but my bump is also very small so there has been little stretching of the skin, and I am sure this also comes into play. I'm not sure you can stop marks, but I do think you can minimise the damage xxx
Hello Pink Lady
I think all the comments above are very valid. I have also been offered other advice which I've started doing of rubbing baby oil into my skin when I'm in the shower. I've only started doing it so no visible results, yet, however it does feel amazing. Good luck with it, xx
Hey have you tried any Mama Mio stuff?
I'm using the body butter stretch mark cream and it feels amazing on!
I got it as a gift but think it's around _20 but ive been using mine non stop and have loads left! Xx
