gud on u girl! if u can do that it is fantastic,I had twins the 1st time and i only had gas and air i didn't think it did anything apart from make me swear at everyone! ,lol!. But being able to get around straight after was good.Again with the second one i had gas and air but it did feel more painful second time.I'm due again in 5 weeks with baby no.4 and really scared about the birth! hoping it's not painful and i don't have to opt for stronger pain relief!! hope all goes well for u ! good luck! xx

My mum had 6 without pain relief, personaly i think you deserve a medal. me am screaming for an epidural when I cant take any more, just gimme the drugs as I find labout too painful.

hey thats great i used gas and air with my little one even though i really wanted more pain relief i was determined to not have anything stronger i think whatever you want as long as you are determined you will manage it.I think were all saints for doing it (saving our men from the pain) however much pain relief you have but doing it without any is awesome and you should be very proud of yourself.Well done and good luck.

Hello, I gave birth to my first, Eoin on just gas and air.. by the pushing stage I was in agony and asking for something stronger but midwife said it was to late! Im now pregnant with my second and have no expectations of myself, I will try my best, but if I nd additional pain relief then so be it.. theres no shame in it.. birth is miraculous either way! x

Well done! I had loads of pain relief with my first and nothing at all with my second.Have to admit it wasn't thru choice,just didn't get to hospital in time to have anything,he was born within a few minutes of us arriving.Looking back though,it wasn't as bad as I would have expected.

oooo i dont want anything either just gas and air although i am really keen on a water birth!! My mum says i will b screaming for pain relief when the day comes but im not convinced!! 9 weeks to go and counting! xxx

i only had pethadine injection with my first i didnt feel that it did much other than take the edge of the pain slightly and make me really drowsy inbetween contractions my second is due in 10 weeks wana try with just gas and air this time but if i need more pain relief then so be it all i knw is that i really do not want an eperdural im not scared of needles but really dont like the idea of them putin it in my back just the thought of it makes my back go funny and hurt lol

well done you! i couldn't do it though! i thought i would have a pain relief free birth, water birth etc but when it came to it i had an epidural, diamorphine, gas and air- the lot! was a very long delivery though- culminating in forceps in theatre, so i'm not too embarrassed about wanting the drugs! but good luck to you! xx

This will be my first baby and I dont want anything just gas and air, but i'm not very good with pain so I can picture me screaming I need drugs already! Lol! I'll just have to see at the time!!!

Your brave!! after 8 hours of very intense contractions (th 1st contraction was as painfull as th last) i could have kissed the MW who gave me pethadine.lol.
