Hiya im 32 weeks pregnant with twins and my little boy is the first one out so they say (dont kno how they can tell) and he is head down so i can have a normal delivery but my litle girl is breech and the doctors keep saying that i should have a epidural at the beggining cos it will be easier and safest for the second twin. This is the first time i have been pregnant and dont know what to do i dont want a epidural but i dont know incase they have to do a c-section on her. Pointless asking the doctors cos they want me to have one anyway! can anyone help??????????
Hiya !
I think if the boy was in breech, with him being the first one to come out, I think I would've opted an epidural so save some pressure and stress for the second one but as it's the second baby to come out who is breech, I personally wouldn't bother with an epidural. My friend (not with twins) had a breech baby and she gave birth absolutely fine without an epidural so if she could do it, anyone can !
Take my advice, DON'T HAVE ONE ! ! ! Espcially if you want to feel the experience of giving birth

I think it is a joke people not wanting epidurals when they havent been through childbirth before. I went through it for the 1st time in December 2007. To me it was like sticking my a r s e in a frying pan it was that bad. Believe me when the contractions set in you will be sceaming for pain relief. I was 36 hours in labour and when i was offered an epidural after 24 hours of sitting in a birthing pool going no where i took it. After 10 mins the epidural kicked in and it was bliss.. Next time round i will go straight for the epidural .
Wait and see at the time hun, i wasn't sure what i wanted and frankly once i was in labour i took what ever i could have!! i spent 2 compleat days in early labour with only a tens machine for help after that i had gas n air pethadine and eventually an epidural, though i unserstand it's not for every one so it has to be up to you, just don't rule it out until your babies are here. xxxxxx
I had an epidural with my first and during labor it was fantastic I never felt a thing! After labor though I was sick, I wasn't allowed to go to the toilet by myself for at least an hour after because it was still in my system and couldn't walk by myself and baby was sleepy from it getting to her. With my second I had the TENs machine which was brilliant through early labor. Then I had gas and air which is just the best thing ever. I had a shot of Pethedine but that kicked in afterwards and sent me to sleep lol!!, but not for quite a while afterwards. I was able to enjoy a bath after with my second instead of having to have a couple of nurses give me a sponge bath. I'm 39 weeks now and I will be having the gas and air and the TENs machine again. I have heard that once twin 1 is out then the 2nd has alot more room to turn out of the breech position. Listen to your drs and midwives but don't let them push you into anything you don't feel comfortable with.xx
i agree with these ladies, wait until babies start coming, also i would listen to any medical advise as its in yours and babies interests.No-ne can say how much pain anyone will be in,In a long labour an epidural is a god send as i well know with my 1st,i would have took any drug to kill the pain.I personally feel every labour is different and ive had 4 and am on no 5.even though my last little girl was very quick infact i only just got to hospital on the trolly before having her and she was 8lb8 i still remember screaming get her out of me im dying,my point is labour is painful however long it takes so see how it goes, take care
at the end of the day its up to you iv had two children both with out an epidural my first was in the OP position (spine to spine) and yes it was very painpull i ended up with 3rd degree tears and ended up in theatre to be repaired and unfortunatly had to have an epitural for this, my second was a very different again no epidural but this time ended up with 2nd degree tears and again ended up in theatre to be repaired and had to have an epidural for that. the thing is everyone knows that childbirth is going to be the most painfull thing you wil probably go through but you do forget about it once you have your wonderfull baby in your arms. you do what you want to do but also the midwifes will know whats best for you and your babies.
good luck and enjoy them they grow up soo fast xxxxx
ive had two children and no epidurals with my first i had pethadine to take the edge off the pain but with my second i did it naturally, im not gonna lie it hurt like hell, but im glad i did it and im having my third baby and plan to do it natual again yes it hurts but its so worth it .
hello, bless ya!! all those hormones and every thing else to worry about the birth ,and u feel under presure from ur doctors, well at the end of the day the choice is yours, dont be bullied,im sure u wont in t end ,but it is a worry ,leading up to it u just want to do the best for ur babys.well just to say i had 2 epidurals with my son and my daughter and was ok once i got it done, and now expecting to have another in december and most deffently will be havin another epidural, the reason i have them though is that i have qiute big babys ..so anyway wish u luck ,and everthing will be fine in t end...
Don't rule out having an epidural if you've never given birth before. I thought I had quite a high pain threshhold and wasn't sure what pain relief I would have, but after being in labour 39 hours before I was 3cm and finally offered pain relief, I wanted all the pain gone. It is really painful so don't rule anything out. I would definiely have an epidural again cause they are great - the pain is totallly gone. At the end of the day though, it's your decision. Good luck! x
i didnt have one with my first one and really im not keen as i like to know what my body wants but even now with 5 weeks to go on my second im not completely cutting the idea out cos i dont know how i will feel til i am there.
my cousin however was pressured into having one with her first as no other pain relief was offered to her and she found it completely humiliating.being told when to push cos you cant feel contractions (might as well have a c section if your not gonna feel anything is what she said) and afterwards she wasnt allowed to shower someone had to clean her up and help her dress etc.she couldnt even help her little girl when she started crying because every move made her feel sick.
her second nothing but diamorphine and she loved every second.
everyone has different reactions and everyone has different feelings about control.dont let them make you feel that its your only option .
there is a possibilty of her turning when he is out or maybe even the midwives turning her when there is more space not sure tho only ever heard of that whilst waters are intact
