Pain relief

14 weeks and in pain - can i take mild pain killers

Hi, i started bleeding last week and have had two scans. Fortunately the baby is ok, but they think I may have been carrying twins and have lost one. I have a pool of blood above the cervix and the midwife said it would cause pain, and it is. Stupidly I did not think to ask whether I can take pain relief. Can anyone who has been in a similar situation help me?

Hi, i was in a similar situation in my last pregnancy where at 14 weeks i had a miscarage, i dont mean to scare you but i had alot of pressure at the bottom of my stomak and i had a patch of bleeding, i went to the hospital and had a scan but couldnt see anything wrong! this carried on for a couple of days and in total i had 3 scans as i was getting pain. The docs told me i could take paracetamol which did calm my pains down, but when the paracetamol weard off i was back at square one! They told me i would get these pains and to keep taking the paracetamol! but then it all went wrong when i had really bad pains like i was in labour, i was rushed to hospital and whilst waiting for the medics my waters broke! i new i had lost the baby at that moment! I think before you take paracetamol you should ask ur doctors or get urself checked out again in an A&E, The doctor should have told you that you can take paracetamol. To be honest i would never rcommend even pareacetamol to any pregnant women. Sorry i dont mean to scare you but i think if the pains are that bad you should go and get checked out again and they should tell you if the paracetamol is ok to take. Hope everything goes well for you and do keep us updated! x

Hey i'm 18 weeks pregnant and the sonographer thinks i've had a failed twin pregnancy too. I've been to see my doctor for pain relief and she prescribed me co-codomol i asked if this was safe and she said it was perfectly fine to take these. good luck. x
