What to expect from membrane sweep??

I'm having a membrane sweep on thursday and i haven't got a clue what to expect, it seems every person i speak to have had a very different experience .. just wondering if any of you ladies have had it done, did it work first time? were you early - on time- late? did the labour progress quickly?
i no i'm going to have to be patient and wait till thursday to see if it works for me but thought it would be nice to read other peoples experiences :) xxx

hi huni i had one on my 2nd pregnancy at 40+6 was a little uncomfortable no pain or anything like that my contarctions started the following evening and my little girl arrived the next evening at 40+8

Hi, I had one with my first baby and its a bit like having a smear, they feel around with their fingers and try to stretch the cervix slightly, its like having a very rough examination! Its not painful just uncomfortable. Afterwards I felt very crampy and uncomfortable but it wore off after a day or so and I didn't go into labour and ended up being induced 12 days overdue. I didn't have another sweep but I'd been taking raspberry leaf tea from my due date and when I was induced and labour finally started it was very quick - 4hrs 20mins from start to finish.
