quicker labour and bigger 2nd babies!

Hi I am pregnant with my 2nd child and i a scared about giving birth! Im not scared with the pain or nothing like that, but and old wives tale is that the 2nd baby is always bigger and the labour is quicker! My 1st labour was only 3hrs 30mins and she weighed 8lb5oz, so if any one has any ideas or feelings on this please please let me know i just want to know whether the rumours are true Thanks sally x x x

hi hun
my 2nd labbour was longer, but 3rd was quick. as for weight they went up and down.
i have 4 children 1st child was biggest and 4th was smallest.
so i guess not always the case although some 2nd labours are quicker.
good luck with yours
hugs xxx

Hi, ive had 6 children and my labours and weights have been.....

!st 8 hours 6lb 14 1/2oz
2nd 13 hours 6lb 4 1/2oz (baby lying back to back)
3rd 3 1/2 hours 5lb 3oz
4th 1 1/2 hours 6lb 3oz
11 year break then
5th 5 hours 6lb 3oz
6th 1 1/2 hours 6lb 3oz

I remember saying to my mum on my 2nd pregnancy that it should be easier, and she said that it wasnt entirely true, the difference she said, was you will now what you are doing better. the way baby is lying and whether your waters break quickly all contribute to how quick your labour will be. i mow practise OFP (optimal fetal postitioning) which means being on all fours twice a day for 15 mins in the last week or 2. it encourages the baby to lie properly for the birth. my midwife advised it after my back to back labour. good luck x
