Labour worries

Raspberry leaf tea

Have you taken it before? Did it make any difference to your labour? Is there any side effects at all? And if it is good then where should I buy it from? I'm 36+5 weeks, thanks x

hi, i started drinking 1-2 cups a day from 36 weeks and i went 6 days over. i didnt really like the taste so i put one sugar in. i just bought the clipper one from tesco.
i ended up with emergency section so cant really say if my labour would have been different however, i did get to 5cm before baby got distressed, and the midwife who examined me said the cervix was very soft (apparently thats thanks to the raspberry leaf tea). iv never heard of any side effects so id recommend it :)

Thanks for you reply, yeah think I'm gonna go get some tomorrow! Ahh not long now :) oh and how long did it take you to recover from your c section? Because I'm worried that if I had one that I won't be able to do much... X

there isnt any harm in taking it, but you will have absolutely no idea whether it works at all - given you wont know what you labour will be like if you dont or if you do! it doesnt hurt to take it so you may as well give it a go. i didnt take RLT with either of my children - my first labour was 73 hours, baby got stuck and i ended up with forceps. my second baby labour was 1 hour and 15 minutes, with 17 minutes pushing and was a perfect delivery.

I've bought some today so gonna give it a go! There won't be anyway of knowing if it's effective but I guess if I end up having help delivering then it didn't do much! Do you know if I should start with just one cup a day or is it ok to start with two because I'm already only a day away from term. X
