Labour worries

Nervous

Hi
I am 27 weeks pregnant and starting to get very nervous about the labour... I try and be calm about it and not focus on the pain but focus on the what is to come but with the hormones, nerves and worries seem to take over me! Any advice or words of wisdom?

hi lizzia i remember having a panicky moment with my first when reality suddenly hit home that i would actually have to give birth, think i was in denial at first and thought they would ahve invented some other way lol! think most mum to be get nervous best advice is to get as much info about the different types of births/pain relief but be open minded as things hardly ever go to plan on the day, also think about all the mums who have had babies and then go on to have more so yes it hurts but if it was so bad there would be so many more only children good luck xx

it is such a fantastic experience. try not to worry and when the time comes just go with it and try your best to enjoy it. it does hurt, but if you tense up it makes it worse. i have had two children (i've got a 4yr old and an 11 week old) and i have had two fantastic experiences (both very different) but both with very minimal pain relief (except my first delivery ended with forceps so i had to have an epidural for that to be performed). we arent planning on having any more children but i'd quite happily give birth again tomorrow!
definitely keep open minded and try to relax through it to make it the best experience possible.

Just try and take each contraction on its own, it's not so bad to think 2 mins of pain then rest rather than think have I long will it all take. As well as this keep pain relief options open as you do not know what your labour will be like, I did and used all methods of pain relief. Lol. Just remember to drink between each contraction if you can, I ended up having a drip because I was so dehydrated due to not drinking and the gas and air dries your mouth out.

Good luck xx
