Labour worriesI've heard a few things you can do to trigger labour
I've heard a few things you can do to trigger labour, like sex, hot baths, long walks, and curries! Do any of these actually work, or are they just old wives tales? I am eager to have my baby, but do not want to do anything that may upset it. Also, is it safe to orgasm?

Most women, by the time they get to the end of their pregnancy, are eager for their baby to be born, especially if they go over their due date. Things like hot baths, curries, walks may be enjoyable, and distracting, but there's no evidence to support these as confirmed ways of starting labour. Male sperm contain prostaglandins which can trigger labour as can stimulating the woman's nipples, but this takes a while, and labour will ONLY begin if your body is ready to go into labour anyway.
By the way, it is quite safe to have orgasms whilst pregnant and to try and trigger labour. Oxytocin is released during lovemaking that causes the uterus to contract mildly and makes you feel good.
i have had 5 babies,my conclusion is they arrive when their ready.only 1 has arrived on due date the rest were late and the last 2 were so cosy they were induced after 2 weeks over.i tried everything the only thing i can add to your list is raspberry leaf capsules in the last two weeks ,holland and barrett sell them.only take in the last two weeks, there meant to prepare the body for labour .some swear by them and some say they didnt do anything but they do no harm and at the end you will try anything well almost anything.try and make the most of the time before baby comes .enjoy the time and REST as much as you can, when baby comes you wont believe how quickly time passes and your day is so busy.take care .x
i had niggles for a while with my daughter. i ordered a hot curry the day befor my due date and the next day she arrived!!!! i wouldnt put my finger on the curry though. raspberry leaf tea helped me through labour. it also helped me relax in the early stages. otherwise you'll have to take long walks and wait. sorry........
Ive been told the 3 hots 1 after the other is sure to get labour started thats HOT curry, HOT sex, HOT bath !!
My Friend was halfway through no2 and went into labour and my sister did no1 and went into labour during the night some say they work some dont im 31wks and nearer the time ill be given the 3 hots a go.
Also my mum drank A pint of cod liver oil with me and as she was to scared to go to be induced.and swears thats what started her labour.
Let me no if u try any and if they work GOOD LUCK
I have a 4 year old girl who was 11 days late tryed hot barth and hot sex but did'n't work I have heard of useing cod liver oil but got told you not aloud to use it and midwife know if you have used it so I would't use it. If you can find a way to trigger labour please tell me because I am 24 weeks pregnant and don't wan't this baby to be as late as my 4 year old
alot of my friends have tried rasberry tea and cod liver oil to my neighbour with 2 out of 3 of her children her waters broke whilst makin love to her hubby i personaly think the baby wil come wen gd and ready and shouldnt be forced into early labour my 1st child was 12 days l8 and emercency c section i tired all the oils hot water etc and nothin worked for me i think the thought of drinkin the cod oil made me so sick it made me ill and had to have emergency c section so please b careful and baby wil come wen they ready
my son was born at 35 weeks, and was in special care for nearly a fortnight, with breathing problems etc,for your own and your babies health dont even try to start off labour until its ready.its really hard not being able to hold your own baby!
With my son I was a week over due and everyone kept advising me on how to start the labour. I tried everything from hot curries to the sex and nothing worked. Even though its hard in the last few weeks the baby will arrive when its ready and the old wives tales should be discarded.
im a first time mum but my family and sum friends tell me that driveing over speed bumps in a car can set labour off, i dont no weather its true but it sounds like fun! thy also say that walkin up and down stairs helps start u off but hey i dont no i suppose the baby will cum when its ready.
Both of these ideas are actually true. My midwife told me to eat fresh pineapple and that worked also, so well worth a try!
