ive been told today of my midwife that home births are not relly done in my area. of course im not standing for this. ive had 4 natural births with no complications and quite frankly well they cant drag me there can they lol
I totally 100% agree with you, if you want a homebirth you go for it. I was booked for homebirth with my daughter(first child) and my midwives were really supportive of me. I may be totally wrong here but i think there is something called the patients charter which basically says you can choose to be treated wherever you like-including home births-you midwives cannot refuse to come out to you.
Good Luck!!! xx
mum2milly thankyou hun i find it quite frustrating as in ur booklets and bounty bags u get of the nhs they give u birth plans etc but in all 4 of my labours they have never taken any notice of them anyway!!!! i mean i no the nhs are overworked and understaffed but surely its safing the nhs sum money by choosing a homebirth???
To be honest i work for the NHS and know what the majority of maternity units are like and its not pleasant!! (in my area anyway!) Dont get me wrong they were brill with me when i had to have c section but my room never got cleaned while i was there. Its probably much safer for you and baby to have home birth and you are less likely to catch anything nasty! Go for it!!
It's your absolute right to have a homebirth if you want one, don't stand for any nonsense! How on earth can they say they don't really do homebirths in your area - utter rubbish. What they actually mean is "it's more convenient for US if you have a hospital birth".
did anyone see the documentary on home births where women were having there babies at home without any medical care.my nan watched it and it had a message on it saying that as it stood no charges were brought against these couples or the people in attendance (i think they meant the camera crew).
i didnt realise some areas dont do it thats stupid i want a home birth and if they even start to say they dnt do it i wil punch some1 in the mouth this is my 2nd child n really want a home birth, they just cant b bothered to get of their lazy bums n get out there n help ppl, i say def go for it! if u want a home birth do it n im def gna check if they do it in my area im gna need some support i live just over a rail crossing so if the rails go down for 10 mins n no 1 can get here in time or i need help in anyway it wil be delayed,, and esp if there were complications , good luck to you n hope everything goes alrite for u!
thats terrible i was under the belief that no matter were u live u get the option, im not alowed a home birth as had problems with both my children n there afraid of history repeating otherwise it wd have bn fine stand ur ground hun n u should have the birth that u want its ur body n ur baby afterall good luck xxx
I wanted a homebirth with my first buit was told it wouldnt be a good idea as i suffer from panic attacks when people touch me, so if i did suffer a panic attack i would put me and the baby at risk, as it turns out i had to get started, my labour was 7 and a half hours long and the midwife looking after me said i done brill as i didnt panic or have any problems i fought with every midwife i saw to be able to only have one midwife present except for the actual birth and no students and they still kept asking me, in my opinion no matter what you want stick to your guns and dont let them push you around, but dont be too pigheaded when it comes to it (safety).
