homebirth / hypnobirth

hi im 27 weeks pregnant with my second child i have already got a son who is 19 months . i had him in hospital but really wanted a homebirth but everyone just seemed to be against it.
this time im 100% going for a homebirth and im going to try a bit of hypnobirth to, but i dont really know all that much about the hypno part, i ordered a book and cd, and my sister in law does hypnotherapy so she is gonna come and help me out.
has anyone try hypnobirth before??? would like some advise please.!!!

also i have Group B strep infection and had that in my last pregnancy to, when i was in labour they just gave me a drip in my hand for a short time. but can the midwife give that at home?

have you spoken to your midwife about having a home birth with strep B? i cant see that they will be happy about giving you a drip at home. normally homebirths are only available for uncomplicated deliveries and strep is a kind of complication.

Its very unlikely you'll be given the drip at home, and you need to have the drip. Definitely speak to your midwife.

my midwife said that she was not sure how they do it all now? and that is confusing me a bit, i really want to know as i really want a homebirth.
she said that we will talk about it at my next app. ???

Good luck Jacksmother. I'm planning on home birth using the hypnobirthing. It looks amazing and me and my partner are really in to it. I think if its something you feel strongly about and you are low risk then there is no reason why you cant have a relaxing a stress free homebirth. Good luck everyone :)

Hi Jacksmother.
Just thought id say that we have hired a private midwife to go through the hypnobirthing process with us. we had our first of 5 three hour sessions on Wednesday. it went really well. I'm only 23 weeks at the minute but wanted to start early to give myself plenty of time to get in to the right mindset. The cd is great and i'm currently working my way through the book. I love the basic pricipal of beliving in your body and going in to pregnancy without fear or tension. Good luck xx
