Home birth

Just been approved for a home water birth at my 36 week appointment!!

Hi all,

I had my 36 week appointment on Wednesday and am sooooo happy as the midwife is happy for me to have my baby at home :)

It's our first baby so i thought they may not let me but as i've had a good pregnancy (apart for some serious sickness) all is good!! We've ordered the birthing pool now and am just hoping all runs smoothly... I just can't wait to meet our little man :)

I hope you are all well and enjoying your bumps

xx

Congrats it's always a nice feeling when your request is granted hey!

I'm 15wks, went to see a consultant this week, since scan, my due dat is near 2weeks earlier than originally planned. An she has confirmed i can have an elective c-section & sterilization all together. I will be 38 when my 2nd baby arrives. my 1st baby will be 3. Hubby has a teen son from prev relationship so we both don't want anymore, and i refuse to take anymore hormone drugs. or wait for him to get a vasectomy. xx

that's great! i am 35 wks (tomorrow) with my 2nd baby and i would love to have a home birth but my partner isnt comfortable with it. he wasnt comfortable with our first baby, because she was our first and due to complications when she was born he certainly wont let me have a home birth this time! i will be going for a midwife led birth again (that is what i wanted with my first but i ended up needing forceps so got moved to theatre). i am hoping a pool will be available in the midwife led unit so i may have a water birth there - will just see how i feel at the time!

i am so pleased that you can have what you want. make sure you enjoy it! i really cant wait to go into labour again!

that is great LK that you can have your sterilisation at the same time - i know that is what you wanted! x

Hey L's mummy, (hope your enjoying your freedom from work?) I would agree with your hubby. Being taken to theatre for forceps, bit scary, especially for a man. lol! I had complications with low lying fibroids so c-sec is the best option for me. Can't bring myself to take the pill ever again, it caused a hormone imbalance & almost ruined my chances of conception. Injection made my skin bad, & coil made me have hideous period pains. So I quit! lol.xx

But I love the sound of a water birth, on tv i once saw a young teen mum have a water birth at home. Her mum got in the pool with her and her nan and aunts were all in the room for support. so when the baby girl was born it was four generations there. It was really emotional for everyone. x

Hi - yes i am enjoying freedom from work but the little lady is certainly not understanding that mummy is anything from 2 weeks away from giving birth! it's so hard and i feel so bad for her that i cant do what she wants me to do. i am down on the floor with her for as long as i can tolerate but it gets painful and with bump being so low i cant even sit cross legged now!
yep, i know he is right. i wouldnt go against his wishes and make him uncomfortable particular as a midwife led birth has all the comforts of a home birth just the extra comfort of knowing medical help is only a lift ride up one floor!
i have asked adam if i do decide to go for a water birth whether he'll get in with me and he isnt sure so we'll have to see. i am taking extra items of clothing to be able to get into the pool if i decide to, but i am just as happy giving birth on dry land! x

I would love a water birth, and i have discussed this with my partner who is happy to come in with me... i remember with my first daughter being in the bath at the start of labour and was so relaxed that every time i tried to getout it hurt so i refused lol x
