hey hun when the mid wife measures your bump they plot it on a chart and it plots out the weight to. at 35 weeks my baby weighs 6lb 6oz its only a guide which there going off. i walked in to the hospital last week the nurse grabed hold of my bump (which i cant stand anyone doing) and said oh what a woppa your gonna have! its like callin your baby fat! and when ur preg you dont want people sayin stuff like that coz u feel so fat yourself! my first baby was 8lb 7oz 1/2 and 10 days early i eat like a pig tho lol right through that pregnancy this time i've watched everything ive eaten.

in your green notes that you take to your mid wife there should be a plottin chart have a look and it will tell you what they think babys weight and things are hun.

take care dont get to wound up lol

xx

hi my midwife told me at all my appointments that my baby would be approx 8lb then at 41 weeks they said it could be a 10lb baby, i had the shock of my life when i gave birth by emergency c section after 3 days in labour and he weighed a healthy 13lb 140z i honestely dont no how they could get the weight so wrong!!!!!

i was told i would have a really tiny baby because i was quite small in my last pregnancyand my daughter was 7lb and 14 days over so i suppose she was righti think its a mix of looking on the charts and personal experience.they must have all seen some sort of pattern that they swear by.they can always be wrong.nobody is perfect and no chart is perfect when i guess they are based on mass average.

nettie hun dont worry to much about babys weight aslong as his health thats all that matters and boys usually are bigger than girls anyways.

becky i cant imagen pushin out a 13lb baby bless you bet your glad you got a section. its a bit horrible the hospital lettin you go so long in labour to you'd think they'd have seen you were having a big baby and give you the option of a c section in the first place!

i totally agree with lunnybunny about the mid wives seeing that many they just start and believe your the same. also they just use a guide line to.

hope all goes well for everyone xxxx take care xxxx

nettie no stress xxxx

When I went for my 32week scan they said baby looked petite but chubby (how they could tell that I have no idea!) & they thought that by 40weeks she'd be around 6&1/2-7ibs. She was born at 40+6 weighing 6ib8oz so they pretty much spot on!!
No idea how they figure it all out though! :)
Good luck with it all.
