Feeding your new baby

don't want to breast feed but would like to give first feed

Hi. I don't want to breastfeed my baby but would like to try and give the first feed as I've heard this is good for both mum and baby. Has anyone else done this? This is my second baby and I didn't breastfeed at all with my first child.

i gave my little girl breast feeds in hospital, and expressed as much as I could until my milk ran out a few weeks later, and fed her the expressed milk from a bottle. this was because i knew I couldnt handle breastfeeding properly and full time, but i still managed to give my daughter the first few precious weeks of my own milk, now shes on formula milk. i didnt want to breastfeed because it was really painful and i couldnt get her to latch on when i was at home, but i feel i did the best alternative. good luck hun x x x

hi sweet, i didnt beastfeed but if you wanted to try breastfeeding you could always try and if your not comfortable use formula but bear in mind your milk will dry up quickly and once its gone theres no going back so if you wanted to try at least theres backup.
at the end of the day hun its your body and your baby do what you are comfortable with!
i bottlefed my 4 well had 4th 3 mths ago.
see how you feel when the time comes be happy whatever.
hope all goes well for all of you hugs xxx
