Feeding your new babybreast feeding following a nipple piercing
I am looking for some iinformation as to whether it is possible to breast feed following a vertical nipple piercing. I breast fed my first child and would like to breast feed (or express) when i give birth early next year. so what i really want to know is, is it possible to obtain milk from the breast which once housed a piercing?
my friend bf her youngest. she had hoops in both nipples. she took rings out when she was pregnant but put hoops in every day to keep the piercing open. she managed to bf no problem.
thank you for that you have given me hope! (I'm quite excited now thank you) It is something that i am agonising over as it is something that i feel i need to do for my baby that and the fact i find it sooo much easier than making bottles (maybe i'm lazy!)
your doing the right thing. the sense of achievement you get when you can manage to bf is amazing. managed to bf my eldest for 6 months but other 2 only for a few weeks. all the best
Hi,
I've had both of mine pierced. 1 was removed several years ago and 1 when I found out I was pregnant, I have been able to breastfeed from both and milk comes out from my holes, even the one that healed up years ago!
I had my nipple pierced and although my LO didn't latch on to either breast, I had no problem expressing. The only thing is that my aim with the pierced once wasn't as good as the other :-) x
