Feeding your new babyFinger foods
I'm going to try my son on finger foods for the 1st time, which finger foods do you think would be best to start on?
how old is he?
soft things are best - pieces of banana or other soft fruit. hard boiled eggs, buttered toast, pasta, dairylea cheese triangles (bit messy tho!)
My little ones both liked rice cakes - Not too messy but smell a bit grim.
He's just over 8months old. but was 11 weeks early. can they eat the toast ok with no teeth?
hey
my Little girl is just over 7 months and been having finger foods for a couple of weeks and she will eat anything toast, apple, bananna, even fishfingers, carrots, malted milk biscuits, dairy lea dunkers.. pretty much anything i eat she will have a go.. tho she has 8 teeth.. however try with soft things first rusks are easy to hold and go soft quickly toast is ok and banana you will be supprised once he gets the hang of it no teeth wont bother him much.. and babies have a good gagging reflex so dont panic too much
good luck it gets messy lol
yep, they can do it without teeth. my eldest didnt get teeth until 9 months old but she was trying finger foods at 6 months.
My little man is 8 months old too and as we speak is siting eating spaghetti (pasta - not out of a tin Lol!). He only had it for the first time a few days ago and loves sucking it in his mouth. I'm going to sound like a terrible mother now but I've found that if they struggle to feed themself finger food a biscuit does wonders - they soon get the hang of it when a malted milk is the reward!!
