hi i'm shell and i'm 7 weeks pregnant with baby number 2. has anyone got any tips on getting some decent sleep? i'm not the best sleeper at the best of times but its even worse recently and i'm only getting about 2 hours a night if that!! i'm out for the count soon as my head hits the pillow but soon i'm up again, it's driving me crazy!! Any advice greatly appreciated. x
Hi shellarella,
I can't say I have had the same problem as you.
I sometimes get up in the middle of the night and takes me ages to go back to sleep. There is one thing that helps me though...a cup of hot milk and honey...:)
Try it and let me know if it works for you too.
All the best!!
Hi I also have trouble sleeping and when i do i have very wierd dreams (some of which i act out!). My partner was very surprised when i woke him up while singing akunamatata (spelling?) from the lion king rather loudly! I avoid caffine after 3pm and have a nice warm bath which tends to help me. sweet dreams...
Hi. I've been using a meditation cd which I listen to with headphones just before sleep. It has deepened my sleep dramatically and I rarely wake during the night now. There's lots on the market - it's well worth a try. Take care
hello
i am deaf and have been difficult to sleep, i use some tablets to help me sleep and i think it is not suitable to eat tablets during pregnancy?
GP can give a prescription for safe sleeping pills in pregnancy but they prefer not to and most women prefer to try alternatives first.
I use a little bit of lavender essence on my pillows at night - costs _3.50 from Body shop. I am not sure how much it helps me sleep but it certainly makes me relex!
I guess at 7weeks you don't have the positional problems I do at the moment - but when bump gets bigger, lots of pillows do wonders!
A nice bath before bed also relaxes me - expecially when I use fancy bubbles :)
And finally either reading a book, magazine or watching some easy dvds in bed will soon get you snoozing,.
I also find that not drinking immediately before bed and rocking while weeing on the loo helps me go longer before needing to get up again.
Hope you manage to sleep well tonight
xx
Im 30 weeks and finding it really difficult to sleep....mostly cant get comfortable, Im tall but small built with a big bump!!! Some cushions are helping a little.
Have you asked your GP about Valarian root herbal sleeping tablets? They are totally natural, but im not sure if they are safe to take during pregnancy, during 1st trimester i dont think much is safe to take medically.
Has anyone else suffered from restless legs?? They are driving me CRAZY at night timeany thing to help would be appreciated.
I have found sleeping hard in the first 6/8 weeks, I think it might be due to anxiety for me though? I am not a great sleeper at the best of times but am wide awake as early as 2am and then not suprisingly exhausted by 6pm at night and trying not to go to bed before 8pm. It's a bit of a vicious circle really. I used to use lavendar, but I'm scarred to now as I read somewhere that it is not safe to use aromatherapy oils (inc lavendar - which is usually one of teh safest ones) during pregnancy. I find it really hard at work as I can barely keep awake by mid afternoon. I might try the cd idea!
