Diet & fitnessHealthy Pregnancy?!
Ok - so I'm 5 weeks pregnant. I need some advice. Ok so I haven't known I'm pregnant for long and only started taking vitamins at 4 weeks and 2 day's pregnant. 'Cos I wasn't aware of what to do or take. I'm taking this tablet that contains, 400mg of folic acid, 20mg of vitamin E, along with all the other vitamins I need, but I'm worried I'm not getting enough folic acid? 400mg a day, starting from 4 weeks and 2 days counting from the first day of my last period. Another thing, I've cut caffeine out of my diet, along with alcohol and processed foods, soft cheeses and runny eggs. But I'm a smoker and I'm finding it SO hard to quit! Although I have cut down to 3-5 a day until I see my doctor again to get help for this. I'm walking places and am generally changing my lifestyle to have my healthy baby. But I'm terrified of miscarrying or having my baby but with something wrong with him/her because of smoking this far in and maybe not taking enough folic acids.
So really I'm asking if 1. I'm taking enough folic acid? 2. If I'm taking enough vitamins? 3. If I should be cuttings something other out of my life aside smoking. (foods etc')?
Ok, I'm only 15 so I'm really scared on all this but want the healthiest wee baby around. Thanks.xxx

good luck XX u can talk to me on msn if yu like bevinder@hotmail.co.uk
I think the fact that you've done so much already to change your lifestyle shows how responsible you are. Your age doesn't matter in the slightest because we're all told the same things when we are pregnant!
The best people to speak to are either your GP or your midwife. My midwife gave me the complete rundown on what to eat and what not to eat during my booking in appointment.
I hate to admit it but I am also a smoker and have found it incredibly hard to quit completely, which I hate about myself. I did try nicotine patches from 12 weeks on my GP's advice but found that the baby doesn't move so much while I'm using them which worried me even more.
You're doing very well so far, keep it up!
Hey, thanks for your advice you two. I'm seeing my doctor this afternoon. I'm in school at the moment. I'm taking pregnacare too but it's Asda's own. Ha! Ha! About the smoking, I'll talk to the doctor this afternoon about quitting smoking, I'm down to 3-5 a day but it keeps creeping up when I'm around my friends. I also hate myself for not being able to quit cos it's my child I'm harming.=[ I'm scared. Add me: untamed_love@hotmail.co.uk
