Since getting pregnant my apatite has been very poor and I've suffered with quite bad morning sickness, but over the last week my apatite has increased again and I can't stop eating. I'm having to eat smaller meals but more frequently. I am trying to eat healthier too to I also have to go with what I'm craving or what I fancy. I had my antenatal appointment yesterday, at 25+5 weeks, and my urine sample showed that I have high Ketone levels. Midwife was a little concerned and asked when I'd last eaten as the high ketones show I'm effectively starving, even though I'd eaten half an hour before and I've been eating a lot more in the last week. Baby is doing fine though and has a really strong heat rate so I was really pleased, I was also measured for the first time too.
I just wondered whether anyone else as had any issues with high ketone in their urine sample and what you did? xx
Hey
I havent had issues (as yet?) with high ketones, but i can relate to the increased apitite too.
I had bad sickness and barely ate anything for weeks. I was weighted at my 20 weeks scan and havent put on even a stone as yet.....
All i seem to do is eat... small meals but im always eating (to the extent that im fed up of eating!!)
What did the MW advise you?? x
Well I've only been eating in the last week and had the increased apatite over the last week, so she didn't really advice much apart from try and eat when I feel like it. I think she'll just monitor me over the next few antenatal appointments. I have lost nearly 2 and a half stone since becoming pregnant to, which to a point is good as I am over weight. I have tried eating a little more today but I'm feeling so sick again and not that hungry. I don't like forcing myself to eat but think I have to to support babies growth!
Do hope you are ok, how far along are you? xx
Hi Ann-Marie, hi Amy - just keep snacking! If you can eat small meals then have 5 small meals rather than 3 and keep snacking inbetween - cheese and crackers, hummous, yoghurts, peanut butter on toast, cereal and milk, anything you fancy really! I could only snack with my last pregnancy even though I didn't have any nausea or sickness I just couldn't eat big meals and didn't have an appetite so snacked on sandwiches a lot! Plus the usual cake and choccy of course! I wouldn't worry too much about it unless they said the baby was small for dates, just try to snack little and often as much as you can really and hopefully your appetites will pick up towards the end. :-))xx
