Don't worry! The fact that you've had 1 section doesn't mean you will need another - most mum's are able to have a natural birth the second time round. 10lb is a big-un! Were you over your dates? All this info will be recorded in your next pregnancy notes anyway, so if you're worried about size of baby they can keep a check on that and stop you going over your dates if need be. Babies don't always get bigger! I think you would be hard-pushed to get one as big next time. At least you know you kept him well looked after in there and he fed properly!
Your womb will heal completely over a few months, but I would always recommend having a bit of a break before a next pregnancy even after a natural birth just to give yourself a bit of time to recover. A nice break is 9 months or more, but don't worry, you don't have to wait a set amount of time before trying again. Your womb is pretty tough.
Hope that helps. I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my first, but that advice is based on my medical opinion, as I'm a GP who used to work in Obstetrics. Lots of love,
Helen

HI, providing your pregnancy is fine you should be able to request a vaginal delivery if that's what you'd prefer, personally i had a bad labour and it didn't end when my baby was born by c section, so on reflection, i would proberly be happier next time round to have a planned c section, though this is by no means an easy option, as the recovery takes longer than with a vaginal birth. Good luck hun xxxx

i have to say i have had 4 normal deliveries and my babs werea ll 9lb ish and im only small,no probs that way and my sister has had a 10lb boy ok after a c section as has my aunty who hada 12 lb baby boy,as for time its up to you, some want another straight away and others wait until they are healed more, your choice.i think your docs will decide really about if you will need another section in future, they have more history on you,all my best

My youngest son would have been much bigger than my eldest if he had gone term but it doesn't always work like that. My mum had me, then my sister was smaller and then my youngest sister was bigger than both of us. My friend had an 8lb 6oz boy and then her daughter was only 7lb 7oz.

As for c sections and how far apart, I had mine 19 months apart and it was ok. If you are worried about having 2 close together then I would speak to the Dr about when it is safest. You may not need a c section anyway. As it was distress last time it may not happen again.

Good luck.

hiya im not sure about having a big baby but i had a c section feb 07 and i was advised from doctoers not to try and conciever for a year and a half to give the scar and my body time to get back to normal, however my scar healed quickly and im not having any trouble apart from my tummy still being knumb but i think that will ware off soon. im 13weeks pregnant now, so id say if you feel comfortable with your scar and yourself then go ahead and have another baby...i hope i have been helpfull xxx

I don't know about sections cos I have never had one. I do however have 4 children and the first one was the biggest. They were all around the 7 1/2 pound mark, apart from the second one, he was lighter cos he was 7 weeks prem, don't know why. In my expereince, and my mum's who also had 4, they don't necessarily get bigger as you go on. Hope that helps.
