My midwife referred me to consultant via letter when i was pregnant with my second due to the previous section. Am assuming she will do the same this time as am 8+4 with third and will def be having a section with this one. x

hi kay, im 34 weeks pregnant with my second, i had an awful emergency c-section with my first so i have to decide weather to have an elective csection next week, completely unsure as would love a natural birth but am scared of going through what i did with my first, when you see your midwife shel make all the appointments your final birth choice consultation is around 35/36 weeks good luck!!!! jasmine x

hi
i had emergncy c sec with my first and i opted for c section at 37 weeks after being in slow labour for a week and because of the previous scar they wouldnt induce or assist labour in case of the scar rupturing so i asked for elective c section which i was given at 39 weeeks (but if i had gone in to established labour before it would have been a wait and see)
xx

Hiya,
I ended up havng e-section with my 1st (hes now 2 & half). My midwfe referred me to consultant about 16wks because u have a choice with ur 2nd. I wasnt really sure so have an apt on 22nd april (36wks) to decide then. think im gona opt for an elective section as dont want to risk the same thing happening again.
take care x

hi, i had a planned section with my first baby as he was breech. With my second i was referred to consultant, had appt at around 16wks and was asked then wether i wanted vbac or section. I was told that i could either decide then or could think about it until my 36 wk appt and tell them then. I went for a vbac, which failed and i ended up with emergency section. Now just found out i am preg with third and this will definately be an elective section. So from my experience you should be referred to consultant and given the choice. Hope this helps, leanne

I requested an elective c section with my 4th, but midwives would not agree to it, seemed to be impossible to be granted elective c section unless you are a celebrity. But I don't know about the likely procedure of those ladies who have already undergone a c section.
After meeting some of the ladies on the maternity ward who had a c section I was glad I hadn't gone for one after all, as they seemed to be in so much discomfort, some in pain, but everyone's a different case I suppose.

Hi Kay, I had an emergency c-section with my son who is now 22 months due to developing severe pre-eclampsia, I am now 16 weeks with my second child and had an appointment with the consultant last week to discuss whether I wanted a c-section or vbac, I got the letter for the consultant appointment with my 12 week scan appointment, but you could always speak to your midwife if you have not heard anything by then, I have another appointment booked with the consultant at 36 weeks just to make sure I haven't changed my mind. I have told them I would like to try vbac so long as I don't develop pre-eclampsia again! I think it all depends what the reason for your 1st c-section was! My cousin had a c-section with her first then went on to have 3 natural births. It's all about personal situation and choice. They will discuss your personal situation with you at your consultation. Hope everything goes well and this has been helpful! (sorry for rambling on lol) x.
