can u choose whether you want a c section or is it only available for emergencies
Hi again, guess it varies from area to area. Having a 'c' section is a big op, you can't drive for at least 6 weeks after. Generally there has to be a reason, low lying placenta, baby in distress, not dilating etc and not something i'd personally recommend as a childbirth option, my sis in law wants one for her 2nd baby as she had one first time round and is a wuss with pain!!
It depends, on your reasons why you want a c section, if they are a valid medical one than they might let you have one, though c sections arn't necc as easy as you might think, i had a emergency c section last year and the sectionwent fine, it's the after that can be very painful!!, i definatly needed a lot of pain killers, so i don't think that it is a easy option, if you think it's any easier then going through childbirth, personnaly because i had a bad birth the next time i will be asking for a c section, but that's because things went wrong and i don't wont to risk that again. If i may ask why do you want a c section? if it the pain of child birth, though i can't speak from experiecne form that point of view i can tell you the c sections don't come without there own pain, so the comment above about her sister being a wuss about pain, is just wrong. How ever the baby gets here, good luck hun xxx
hi ive had 3 normal labours but had a lot of problems after and during labour. i had a c-sec with 4th baby 16 wks ago because i would have ahd a lot of probs longteem if id had another normal labour. the first week was painful and stitches got inflamed. so in my
case probs with all 4 births.
its painful whichever way you give birth. talk to your midwife about pain relief you might like to use during labour and about your fears.
good luck with everything hugs xxxx
Not suggesting at all that a c section isn't painful, my sister in law has chosen that as her preferred method of childbirth because she was unable to cope with the pain of contractions from the beginning (she said she is a wuss-not me) and wanted an epidural so she doesn't have to go through labour. I'm lucky enough to have avoided a ceasarean each time I've delivered and personally see it as a surgical operation not a delivery choice unless you've been through a bad experience previously, like the above posts. Good luck with however you choose to give birth.
personally i wouldnt have one unless my life depended on it (or the babys).the complications during are one thing the complication afterwards are another matter not to mention being incapable of doing a lot afterwards and it can for some people affect the bonding between mother and baby.
i know someone who opted for a c section and 2 years later had a car accidetn and the whole thing ripped open.its not something natural for our bodies so its a bit of a knock for them.
i think it would spoil the whole giving birth aspect or having a baby.i feel its something i go through to earn my baby.we did the fun bit now we do the not so fun bit lol
