Hi, I had an emergency section with last baby but had already had an epidural so they just topped it up so was awake. Hopefully somebody will have been put out for one, if not if you google there are a few forum discussions about being under general for c-sections which might help a bit.
I know from watching them on telly that they usually give the baby to your partner/birthing partner until you are awake :-))xx

i cant have an epidural due to having low platlettes so if i ended up having a section i will be asleep! and i dont want family to be able to see and hold the baby before me. its so not far having this blood condition i get chooses made for me.

I'm sure you'd be able to put in your birth plan what you would want to happen in the event of a c-section, and make sure that your partner knows what you want so he can ensure that it happens that way - are you happy for him to have the baby while you are asleep if it comes to it, is it just other family member that you don't want to see the baby before you? If so then I'm sure it would be fine to ask for that, they don't usually take you all back to the room until you are awake as far as I'm aware but you could check that. Don't worry though it might not even happen, just write down what you want just in case but then don't let it stress you out xxx

im happy for her dad to hold her until i wake but wouldn't want them to take her back to the room without me! my mum will be there as-well, so i want to be the first to show her. the birth is getting closer and closer and im really terrified.

Oh don't be scared, did you have a natural birth last time? There's every chance that you'll have a normal delivery anyway, no point in worrying about something that might not happen. Easier said than done I know I'm a major worrier! Maybe try a hypnobirthing cd, I used one in my first pregnancy and it really helped with relaxation and got me to sleep every time! xxx
