Caesarean section

C-Section But will be wake this time around IM SO SCARED!

Awful labour the first time around, i carried my baby leaking waters for 10days then got induced with the internal, that didn't work. I got put on pitocine that was hell i wasn't dilating, Epidural didnt work at all i still felt every bit of pain. My babys heart rate was dropping. I had a emergency c-section which i was knocked out for. This time round i opted for a c-secton but will be awake im so scared if the epidural or the spinal dont work.

Hi, they won't do the section until they are sure that the spinal has worked so try not to worry, I ended up having an emergency section with my last baby but I'd just had an epidural put in so they topped it up, and I could still wiggle my toes! I was panicking and telling them to give me more as I was going to feel it all but I couldn't lol, it was a really weird sensation like the surgeon had his hand up my bits and was tugging and pulling but it was absolutely fine. The only side effect I had was throwing up straight afterwards (one of the first things my baby saw was mummy being sick!!) but they gave me meds in the iv to counter it. You'll be absolutely fine honestly xxx

Hi,
I had an emergancy section (epidural) with my first it was fine. Buffy13 is right they wont do anything untill they know the epidural has taken effect. I actually didn't even realise they had started it just felt like the surgeon was palpating my bump, then suddenly i heard my daughter cry!

Also my sister had an emergancy with her first and an elective with her second. She said that during the elective it was really relaxed the radio was on the staff were chatting to her and her husband. You'll be fine!

Hey defo nothing to worry about, once the spinal block kicks in you won't feel a single thing, and you can have your partner by yourside so you'll be fine, just have a chat with him..
xx

hi,
i had a planned c section 6 months ago and was thinking exactly the same. the spinal block will definitely work, you will not feel a single thing and from chest to legs. i didnt even know the catheter had been inserted as i could feel my legs at all. they will do so many checks to make sure it has worked before the proceed with anything. x
