I need information on VBAC, I've had 3 previous c-sections, first was an emergancy after a very long labour and baby in distress, second was due to the fact i had a water infection and was in a lot of pain, and infection brought on prem labour, and third was planned as i didn't know i had an option. I have talked to several people about this topic and some say it is just as risky to have another c-section as it is to try and have a vaginal delivery, but my consultant want me to have another planned section as he says there could be risky for both mine and my baby's health if i tried a trial of labour. I would like some one else's opinion i'm really stuck as i don't want to risk my baby's life but at the same time i don't want to miss out on the experience of giving birth as this is probably going to be the last baby i have, as this is my forth baby. What would you do if you were in my situation, i have tried to compramise with my consultant by saying if i go in to labour before the day i'm booked in to allow me to have a trial of labour other wise i'll just go ahead on the day of the planned section, I'm now 36 weeks pregnant and i'm booked in for july 14th, would really appreciate other peoples oppinions PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!
personnally if i were you i would do a planned c section as the consultant has suggested. after all he is the expert
I think the more pregnancies you have, the more scar tissue you have and the more you are at risk of rupturing the scar by having a vbac. I am planning a vbac this time, but this is only my second baby and I'm being encouraged.
Look up as much information as you can, try and find other people who have had three previous sections and ask them. Check with your midwife and see if she has any experience. Get as much evidence as you can then present it to the consultant. The other thing is, when it comes to giving birth, your midwife at the time needs to be happy and I know that not all of them are at multiple sections then vbac. I think a lot depends on luck.
I know you want it naturally, I desperately do too, but so long as you and baby are both safe, does it really matter how it gets here? If push comes to shove, I will have a second one, although I really don't want one.
Good luck in making your decision and on giving birth xx
