Hi everyone. I'm confused at which size baby clothes to buy....my 1st 2 are now 9 & 10 and back then there was no 0-1 mth size, so I bought newborn but they didn't fit into that size for ages because they were 6lbs 4oz & 6lbs 14oz...but now no.3 is on the way and they say that each baby is slightly bigger than the last....unless thats an old wives tale? If baby no.3 is bigger, then s/he wouldn't fit into newborn (up to 7.5lbs) for long, so do I just buy 0-1 mth or newborn to be on the safe side? I don't really want to leave it until baby is here to stock up because hubby can just about find the milk in a supermarket let alone find the correct babygro's in Mothercare World, lol!
Hiya! in most places like mothercare and next newborn is up to 10lb i just bought these for my daughter and she was 9lb 10oz!!! she fitted in them perfectly. Good Luck xx
I was worried about the weight guides on newborn clothes too cause I knew I wouldn't have a tiny baby, but I found they aren't a good indication of the size. For example, asda's newborn up to 9lb was bigger than Tesco's newborn up to 11lb. My son was born weighing 7lb 13oz and he was in newborn clothes until he was 6 weeks old, when I changed him into 0-3 months. The newborn ones were huge on him when he was born too. I would buy a few to get you by until you can go out yourself, but keep the labels on and receipts just in case if you're worried.
Good luck! x
Hiya,
this is tough! I was expecting to have a big baby as I'm quite big myself so I just bought 0-3months thinking they'd be fine! However when Grace was born weighing 6ib8oz everything we had (apart from a couple of newborn babygros my brother had given us) absolutely buried her so my fiancees mum had to go get us a few newborn outfits! Now, at 10weeks, she's only just starting to wear her 0-3months stuff & some of it is still big! Saying all this though, my friend had a 9ib13oz boy & was in 0-3month clothes straight away as newborn stuff didn't fit him!
I'd buy a couple of bits in different sizes then once you've had your baby you can get more in the right size! Don't forget you'll probably get bought a lot of stuff too!
Good luck with it all.

ps - don't worry about ur hubby, i asked my fiancee to bring me some maternity pads while i was in hospital & he turned up with breast pads!!!!!
i bought a bit of a mix match for my daughter and have done this time around aswell.i took a newborn and a 0-3 outfit to the hospital in my bag just in case.i just had the bare basics in newborn because a lot of ppl bought things for us but this time round ive made sure i have the basics in newborn and 0-3 from one shop and then everything else is from wherever so i know for def what fits on the bare minimum.doesnt waste too much money then if the baby is too big for the newborn pieces.
good luck dont fret men kinda go a bit jelly brained when it comes to kids
the problem with shops is the dont go with one guideline.its ok if your are buying for a baby thats already born but then they do it with adult clothing aswell.
my 4th was born at 7lb 2oz and newborn was big on him i had a few bits newborn and some 0-3 now he has just started going into some 3-6 at 3 and half mths bit weird as
some newborn bits fitted till 10 ish weeks. so whats happend in less than a month!!!!!????
hugs and good luck xxx
hi,
my daughter is 6weeks old and in some places she is still in the newborn size, others is 0-1months and matalan she is either in newborn or 0-3months which confuses me totally!!! I tend to go by the weights instead as she was 6lb 6oz born and was in tiny/early baby and she is noe 9lb 2n a half oz but still like a little doll! I found that in Asdas or tescos the early baby stuff was good and cheap so didnt matter if i didnt use them but i did!! You can always take them back if you dont need them but just buy a few different sizes!!!

hi, my daughter is 10 weeks old, weighed 6lb 12oz at birth and i had alreeady got tiny baby stuff from asda and early baby from tesco, only just now going into new born or first size!! sizing is mad!!
Thanks for the advice, I think I'd better buy a couple of baby clothes in each size to be on the safe side. ;)
