hi, i just used a cotton sheet on my mattress as i found my son got quite sweaty you get sheets to fit the basket, and no there are no special pillows for it, you dont use pillows until 12 months old, so you just lay your baby in it with a sheet and blanket/swaddle/grobag, cant remember much about mine as he was in it for 7 weeks and din't like it xx

i would recommend a crib as if you haven't already bought the basket, the mattresses are alot comfier and babys tend to last in them alot longer, one of my friends has one and her baby is still in at 6 months and her last baby grew out of her moses basket at around 3 when i have another i will be getting one x

no, you dont need to put anything underneath. yes the mattresses are quite thin but they are perfectly comfortable enough.
i woudl also echo what amy has said - if you havent already bought a basket, then dont bother and buy a crib instead. like amy said, they grow out of baskets at around 3 months but cribs can be used for much much longer. i am expecting my 2nd baby and have got a crib which should comfortably fit this baby for 6 months.
also, babies must not use pillows or duvets or quilts until 12 months old as they are a suffocation risk and babies overheat very quickly.

I bought a beautiful moses basket (humphrey one in cream and touches of green...) and my son wouldn't sleep in it! It did look nice though! If you want something for your baby to sleep in downstairs during the day though they are a good idea - if your pram doesn't have a carrycot that you can remove :-))xx

i agree with all the comment i bought a moses basket for my first and it was beautiful. and yes the matress is veryt hin but she seemed comfy enough on it. i was also given a crib which i used when i moved her into her room when she was a couple months old. its bigger and the matress is thicker. tbh she did like both but if iwere to choose only one i would choose the crib they can be used alot longer. but like buffy says moses baskets are good for moving around the house. altho when i ahd her at my mums and she needed a nap i would just put her in a washing basket :)
it allc omes down to personal choice i guess x

Thanks for your answers! very helpful indeed xx
I only wanted to get one coz they would look nice and cute with the baby in them...plus I can move it around as some of you suggested...but if it doesnt last that long then Ill have to rethink that!

Thanks

Babies can't have pillows until about 6 months cuz they suffocate in them so whatever you get lay them down flat. And they can't go in a cot till 5-6 months anyway so maybe a Moses basket will b better, there are lots of alternatives you could get as well tho. Hope everything goes well and good luck xx

holheth - just to correct you there:
babies cant have pillows until 12 months (6 months is far too early to give a pillow to a baby as they are still at risk of cot death until 1 yr old but at 6 months it reduces).
secondly, they can go in a cot from birth but most babies dont like it as they prefer to be snug and tight so a basket or crib is better. there is nothing wrong with putting a newborn straight into a cot though - many mothers do it and it is perfectly safe.

I have a moses basket and Iam confused as to when my baby will need to be in a cot and then a cot bed and so on?

Hi, Faye! My son was in his Moses basket until he was just over 3 months, we had a cot bed for him after that. We put him in it with the sides on (ie, making it a cot) then when he was about 2, we took the sides off the cot bed and he slept there (ie, making it into a junior bed) he is still in it at 3 and a half! X x
