what can i do for 1 weekold baby with snotty cold

my daughter had a cold and has passed it on sadly to my lil boy of 1 week,he doesnt seem too hot at present but his nose is blocked,im unsure what i can do for him other than love him and cuggle him better.ive put baby Karvol on a nearby blanket so to hel p him breath through his nose but is there anything new outthere on the market now,ive been away from this for so long im unsure what they can have now or do i just take him to the docs,i presume calpol cant be used until 2 or 3 months, please any advise woulbe great as i hate to see him so grumpy.

calpol is only used form 2 months following injectons the only thing you could do is take him into bathroom and run hot water for stem inhalation to help clear his chest but if your concerned i would phone your doctor or nhs direct on 0845224488 in england and 0845242424 in scotland or call an adviser on her
good luck

thats the only thing i can think of too. sit in the bathroom, with the steam. if it stops him from feeding properly then call the doc, they do prescribe nasal drops sometimes if its really bad and he cant eat.

hope he gets well soon. i dont know if you can buy nasal drops, its basically just water and he would inhale a small drop from a dropper, this is to make the mucus wet enough to work its way out and clear the nose. its not enough to go into the lungs, im not sure what age though. both me and my sister have used it, but that was ages ago.

You can get nasal drops from Asda Boots etc from birth,,,we used them on our LO and it really helped !!

Hiya! when our little man had a cold our H.V suggested popping a towel or something under the matress of the mosses basket (making sure that it wasn't poking out of the sides or anything) and it just raised the matress at the top a little and gave it a little slope which meant he wasn't lying flat which seemed to help him a bit and we used some drops like joanna1969 suggested, but i no wot u mean its horrible when they are full of cold good luck hun xxx
