Last Monday morning at 3.55am I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy called alex. I have 3 concerns though.
The first one is that he gets the hiccups and I was wondering if this is normal for a baby turning a week old and how can I cure or prevent it?
The second one is that during labour I got an epidural and now I have back ache, is this normal?
Lastly, after birth how long do you bleed for and when does yur actual period start?
Thanks, sorry for the longness
OK. Firstly, congratulations!
All babies get hiccups, my daughter always seems to get them after a feed. They do grow out of them.
Never had an epidural so can't help you with that one.
Lastly, it all depends on how the birth was and whether or not you are breastfeeding. I bled for about 10 days after my first daughter, and about four weeks after my second although my hv did say I would bleed for longer second time around. I breastfed for six motnhs with my first, my periods came back three motnhs later but I only had one then got pregnant again! Breastfeeding number two now, currently nine weeks old and nothing yet.
Hey hun, congrats!! I'd do anything to see my lil elin as a newbie all over again!!
All babies get hiccups, he will have been hicupping inside you! Its one way of gettting rid of wind someone told me, so i suppose its not all bad, but dont worry honestly.
I never had an epidural, its one reason why ididnt have one. They say its very common to get a sore back after it and you will need plenty of ibuprofen upto an average of 6months and my friends lil girl is now 4 and she still now and again will get back ache....sorry hun. Did you choose to have an epidural? I'd see your doc to get some tablets and advice.
Every woman varies when they get there period back, 7weeks later i got mine and bled for 2wks after giving birth only because id ripped down below quite bad. We all vary, you might find you'll stop bleeding tomorrow and a period next month...who knows!!
Enjoy being a new mummy : ) x
Congrats on your baby.
My son is just over 4 mths and he has hiccups every single day. He didn't like them first of all and cried when he got them, but now he has just got used to them. The epidural, i never had it with either of my sons and that was the main reason, so unfortunately you might just have to find something that will ease your back, whether it be a massage pillow or i have a heat pillow that you can put in the microwave for 20 sec and it really soothes.
The whole bleeding part, well that depends on you. I bled for 6 weeks with both my kids, and my last child i then had to wait for 6 weeks until my next period. But it could be completely different or you.
xxx
Congrats hun,
All babys have the hiccups and theres not really anything you can do to prevent or get rid of them,my lo has them most days, i had both an epidural and a spinal during my labour and i've had no back problems though i've heard back ache can happen after, and as for the bleeding every women is individual, i bleed for quite a few weeks and then my cycle returned to its usual time. HOpe this helps to reassure you some xxx
Hey congrats on the baby. my son is 3wks old and he always gets the hiccups 2. my midwife told me that from her personal experience the any way she cud get rid of her babys was to feed them, im not sure if itll work cuz i havnt tried it bt u cud always giv it a go. i also dnt know about epidural but ppl i do know who hav had it hav suffered with back problems ever since. and as for the bleeding they say to expect to bleed for about 6weeks although no 2 ppl r the same :) x
