im going to job centre on monday but im not sure what its all about as iv never been on job seekers allowance/income support. iv tried to read up on it but im confused, is it the same thing? or which one will i get if any?

Heya, its been a while since I was getting income support whilst pregnant (no matter how many job interviews I went to you could see their face say 'why are you even bothering' as soon as they saw my bump lol) but from my experience obseekers allowance and income support are totally diffrerent. Income support only lasts until your not expected to be able to work (as your babys 6 months this wont apply to you) so you should get jobseekers allowance which is about _60 a week. But from what I gather its quite different across areas and peoples situation so may be different but I hope this helps xx

Because your partner works u probably won't get anything. We are in the same situation my maternity pay from work has gone down _100 every month since I finished work. I'm not supposed to go back till april but I'm looking at going back sooner :(

Hi Sam, you may be able to get contribution based jobseekers allowance if you've paid national insurance in the past, but they limit you as to how long you can get it as they take your partners wage into account and if he is working full time basically they don't want to give you much! We were in the same position after I took redundancy from the railway and they would only pay me for so many weeks, even though I'd worked all my life from leaving school it makes me so mad! Best thing you can do is go and get it sorted out asap as they will backdate anything to the date of your claim, and then join a few employment agencies - they will usually find you something even if it's not the ideal job and then when you've got something you can take your time and try to find what you really want.
Good luck!
Oh and can't believe he's 6 months already! He's sooooo cute! xxx

went to the job centre yesterday (was in there for an hour!) then rang them today to check my application had gone through and its been denied :(
i have been applying for jobs everyday and still nothing, so now im panicking!! what are we supposed to live on?!?! why cant i get it? my bf only earns _700 a month so that and tax credits just about covers rent/bills etc.
its not fair all these people who have never worked a day in their life and just been on the dole, get everything but iv worked hard and im not allowed anything?! its pathetic think i may move abroad! lol xx
ps thanks buffy :) hes getting naughty now lol
