Working mums & going back to work

Back to work!

Hi everyone!

After finishing work at the end of April i am now starting back tomorrow!!! Im both excited and nerous at the same time! My husband is having my daughter tomorow and then from tuesday she will be with her nanny 4 days a week as they wont take them at any nursery under the age of 2 where i am!!!

Part of me cannot wait to get back to work to have the adult company and conversations and boy do i feel guilty for feeling like that and the other part of me really doesnt want to go as i dont want to leave my daughter! I know she will be fine tomorrow with my husband and next week with my in laws but you cant help but worry can you! I also worry about how she is going to be anyway as she cut her first tooth yesterday morning so she really isnt herself!!!

To top it all off, i have given up smoking so i am even more stressed than before! Wrong time i think to give up but i have been 3 days now so wouldnt want to go back! Please wish me luck girlies! Im excited but dreading it too!!! And more so, i have nothing to wear as i am now 2 sizes smaller than before i had my baby!!!!! Me thinking that my uniform would still fit and it looks like a massive tent and nowhere open today to get anything! Only i could leave it til last minute!! hehe!

Im rambling now cuz im so nervous! Wish me luck girlies and i shall let you all know how i get on tomorrow!!!

Happy new year to you all

I fully understand how you are feeling. I returned to work at the beginning of November and was absolutely dreading it! I was convinced that I wouldn't remember anything and that it would be like starting a brand new job all over again, but it actually turned out to be great! Even on the first day it felt as though I hadn't really been away so long (in a nice way). Of course I missed my little boy, but I knew that he was fine with the childminder and grandparents and it was great for me to do something again as an adult, not just as a mum.
I had the oppostie problem to you with my clothes not fitting as I was two sizes bigger, but with all the sales on now, I'm sure you will be able to find some new clothes for work quite easily.
Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine!

Thank u for the replies!
Jodie - i have wrote back to ya! Twice now!! hehe!!!
Catherine_126 - its nice to see someone felt the same as what i am now! Im sure all will be fine but im just worrying that will her grandparents be able to cope with her at the mo while she is teething! All she is doing is sleeping but at least once in the day she has a major screaming fit! Only for like 2 mins!! But i suppose they will call if they wont manage! Daddy has her tomorrow! Bless her!! hehe!!!
I shall let ya know how i get on tomorrow!!

Hi, I went back to work 2 weeks ago and I was really looking forward to it too - but feeling slightly guilty for feeling that way just like you. I've really enjoyed being back and I think it's good for my son who's 10 months to be with other people so it benefits us both. I've droppped a dress size too but luckily I have a uniform and since my last one was maternity they had to order me a new one anyway. I hope you found something to wear today! Good luck with the not smoking too! I gave up 6 years ago and I'm so pleased I did so keep it up! x

Hi pamjm!
Thanks, i am trying and it seems to be getting harder! But im not giving in!!! Hehe! Its worse after i have eaten a meal like now!! Never mind, i'll manage, i have come this far!
I managed to get 2 tops in matalan as that was all that was open by me!
I think i'll be ok with work! My daughter is 6 n a half months old and im sure she will be fine too with me leaving her! I have always let her stay at my mums who is 60miles away from me just so it would make it easier leaving her for 6 hours a day! My mum n dad like to have her on the weekend both fri and sat night so i dont see her from fri to sunday so i think that has helped me with wanting to get back to work!

i went back to work on 11 december after exactly a year off (my daughter is 11 months old). i also felt guilty cos part of me wanted to go back to get that little part of my life back! i only work 2 days a week and i think i have got a nice work/home balance. my daughter goes to a nursery and she absolutely loves it - turning her into an independent little lady already! good luck, i am sure u and your baby will be fine! x

Hey girls!
Just thought i would let ya know that my first day back yesterday was alright! Wasnt as bad as i thought it would be! I did miss her badly but as the day went on it got easier and the time went pretty quick! Dont get me wrong, i missed her all day but it just was easier after the first hour! I just couldnt wait to see her when i finished and i had the biggest smile i think i have ever seen from her!!!
Thanks for your support!
