they arent allowed to ask you, so u must contact them. if u want to do part time hours, u need to make a formal request. i am due to go back mid-december and i have been talking with my employers since beginning of september and i am still having trouble getting them to agree x

Hi, you have to let your employer know 8 weeks before you are due back if you want different hours, otherwise they assume you want the same as when you left. I was due back on the 13th Oct but I contacted them a few weeks ago to ask how much holiday I'd accrued (I was full time so I'm officially full time until 13th Oct) and as I'm only going back part time, the holiday I'd accrued amounts to another 9 weeks off! So I'm now back on the 15th Dec. Make sure you ask about your holiday too - you might get more time off like me! x

go in and speak with them . i was contact until 2weeks be4 i go back 2 work. i got all my hours back. just get any bit u need 4 work seen as the long you leave more stressfull it becomes.

hiya im due back in 2 weeks,oh no!!!!i rang them last week as im going back part time and i had to tell them what hours i wanted to work and they said i had to put it in writting 8 weeks before i was due back in!so i had to back date a letter to my boss he didnt realise either.im dreading it!!!!!take care and hope you are ok jo x

Good advice from everyone...contact them...and put it in writing...ideally they should have discussed this with you before. I have been bk at work for 6 weeks, it's hard work but not as bad as I thought!
