Meal Times

Im looking for suggestions for meal times as my son prefers to have finger foods but cant find enough/cant think of any more foods to give him that also fill him up enough for a meal and enough variety so that hes not havin the same all the time. if i try give him something from a spoon he eats a few spoonfulls then pushes it away but as soon as he has something in his hand he will eat fine. its starting to get to me now as meal times are always a pain as im makin him 2 - 3 meals to try get him to eat something and he sometimes ends up just having toast and fruit just to get something down him. also im struggling findin on the go foods that he will eat as if i take something with me to feed from a spoon (for convienience) he pushes it away as usual and obviously i cant just make him something else as im not at home?? any advice? x

hiya, my daughters a bit like that sometimes!! how old is he? my daugthers nearly 8 months and what ive started doing now is making her a spoon meal at tea time, and giving her something that she can feed herself with the meal too, it usually works quite well, as shes feeding herself and knows she still has the finger food even if she does eat off the spoon. you could make him a sandwich and wrap it in foil to go out with? i saw my HV last monday and was asking her a bit about feeding and she said to give a sandwich and yogurt at dinner time, which my daughter is happy with, although takes about an hour to eat the sandwich and makes a big mess on the floor and herself!! she likes to eat some sandwich, then will whinge because she can see her yogurt and will want some of that.... she usually ends up with yogurt and cheese sandiwhc in her mouth at the same time but she likes it!!
at tea time, she has whatever were having. and i will try and find something she can feed herself, although its a but more difficult. if we have a roast dinner, she feeds herself half a yorkshire pudding, and if she has a curry (with baby curry sauce and baby rice) she will feed herself popadoms while eating off a spoon.

my hv said not to offer them different meals if they wont eat it because this will be carried on through to toddler years and you will end up making 5 or 6 meals just for them to eat something. if they dont like the food, then make something else, but if theyre being fussy, just keep trying. x
