Weaninghow do i wean
Hi all, my lil girl will be 6 months soon so it's time to start weaning, the thing is i dont know how, i'm so confused. i'm planning on making my own meals for her. Do i start on 3 meals a day or just one, do meals replace bottles? do i give her some water or pop aswell and what about snacks??? please help me
I have only been doing it a few weeks.
Start off with just a few small spoonfuls.
I started with baby rice, but my little boy didn't like that at all.
I then tried a farleys rusk mashed with his usual baby milk, and he liked that! I would do this just once a day to start with as it took him a while to get used to the different texture and being able to swallow it.
I then started to give him a little bit of porridge. It was literally only spoonfuls and now I am at the stage where he is having a bowl of porridge for breakfast, a yogurt or something at lunch and a small dinner at tea time. But, he still has his bottles.
Don't replace any of the bottles with food, because your baby gets everything they need from their milk.
I am by no means an expert so if anyone wants to correct anything I have said, please do. I'm just learning too! :-)
amy - you posted this twice so i have commented on your other thread, but i just wanted to add here that you are far better off to avoid rusks. they are no more than biscuits and dont make a great weaning food at all. even low sugar varities contain a lot of sugar. my eldest didnt like baby rice so we went straight on to pureed veg. when i wean my youngest (she's 13 weeks so not quite there yet!) i wont even bother with baby rice and will go straight to the veggies.
