WeaningFinger food
When did you all start giving your lo's finger food as I tryed my 6 month old little girl on a very small bit of pear the other day and she almost choked and made her self sick. Now I am thinking she is to young but all the hv say you should be giving them finger food at this age!!
my daughter is 8 months and she wont even touch food! i think 6 months is a bit young, but u r right they say to try. it worries me because if u give a baby a stick of cooked carrot, how do they know how much to bite off?
Hi sweet
my baby is 5mths and just while im dcooking dinner i just give him a piece of rusk
to suck on as it disolves.
may be your daughter isnt ready give it a little longer. do what you feel is best for
your baby. some babys dont start finger food till later.

Hi there. My little girl choked on apple and it really scares you doesn't it. I'm not sure why they recommend some of the things they do for finger food at such a young age as I really don't think our little ones are ready for them. Things I have given my daughter since about 6 months are foods that will just dissolve or go mushy in her mouth such as rusk, rice cakes, fingers of toast and bread sticks. I have also given banana but you have to be prepared for mess with that! My little girl also loves chewing on raw carrot - she can't bite any bits off as she doesn't have any teeth yet but it's good practice. Good luck.
Thanks Nicola T it's good to hear someone knows how u feel. If u ever feel like a chat feel free to send me a message x
