Hi my name is Zoe, Ive got 2 young boys 19mths and 6months, I've just started to try and wean my youngest on to solids, which is proving very hard as everytime I try to give it him he spits it out and screams, I don't remember having this much trouble with my eldest son. any help would be very much appreciated, He was born 5 weeks early, and had respiratory problems when he was born do you think this could have anything to do with the probems I'm having.
Unfortunatley kids are all different, i was lucky we haven't had too much trouble with Hannah though she did have hysterics (literally) when we first gave her carrots and any thing with a mediteranian taste, (though she eats it now), what things are you trying perhap you could try something different sometimes it's a aste or texture they don't like. Good luck hun, keep perservering xxxxx
Thankyou for your reply, I've tried the baby rice, Harry didn't like this at all, didn't like the rusks either, I've tried carrots and potato had a little bit more success with that, I've tried him on creamed porridge he does seem to like that, I tried him with a fisherman's bake out of a jar earlier but wasn't keen on that either, With my eldest son Ben he would eat anything that you put in front of him. I never gave Ben any jar food always made my own, what else do you think i could try that he might like.
Hi Zoe, i have a 6mth old son too and have been weaning him for a couple of weeks now. Luckily for me he seems to eat anything i give him. My daughter is 2 1/2 now and i made all her baby food up from scratch myself but with a toddler to look after i don't have as much time with my son so he gets a mixture of both. I would persevere with what you are doing though hun, try all manner of different fruit and veg. Things like banana and avocado etc. don't even have to be cooked so make a great quick meal. Broccoli and cauliflower are good too and of the flavour is a bit strong for your LO you may find mixing it with potato will help. My daughter also loved Butternut squash (still does!). Also although i never tried my daughter with it my friend who has a very fussy 1yr old reccommended trying Heinz savoury pkt mix. I thought it would be disgusting and never would have tried it otherwise but my son absolutely loves the cauliflower and broccoli cheese version age 4-6mth + (which is my friends daughters favourite 2) i haven't tried any other flavours yet, but did buy a new medittaranean flavour 1 today for a try? Is very convenient to make 2. They don't seem to have the savoury versions in many supermarkets but most boots stores stock it and my local tesco does too. I hope this helps? Xx
Thankyou lollipop for your advice, I gave harry porridge, for his breakfast, then cauliflower cheese for lunch which was something I hadn't tried with him before which seemed to go down quite well, he's quite a hungry baby, even after having his solids and his milk he doesn't seem satisfied and cries alot, to settle him off tonight Ive also given him rice and banana, and now finally sleeping but knowing my luck he'll be awake again by 1am, he doesn't always sleep through the night, where as Ben started through the night by 12 weeks, hope to hear from you again xx
hi sweet, your little one wil get the hang of it soon. they do a baby gravy ive noticed
they still do a baby gravy in boots wihich i used with my 1 st son now aged 9.
just keep offering diffrent foods theres lots of fruit and veg out there. i am just starting to wean my 4th and looking forward to trying all these new food for him. i made a lot from scratch and when cooking with my 2nd and 3rd i used to cook extra veggies at dinner fir rest of family and put some aside to freeze in little tubs so i always had a meal handy.
just trying mixing diffrent fruit and veg together.
good luck! hugs xxxx
To dbeech, thankyou for your reply, i will give the baby gravy a try, its not just what to give him I'm having a problem with, every time i try and fed him he spits it out or blows bubbles, which my eldest son never did,I did try some of our food tonight but still spat it out, would it make a difference that he was 5 weeks early and suffered wit a respiratory problem after he was born and spent 4 weeks in special care? he doesn't
seem to settle at night, what could I give him to help sleep through the night, how do you cope looking after 4 kids, I admire you, totally. hope to hear from you again, hugs xxx
