you ideally shouldnt wean until 6 months but if you think your son is hungry enough to be weaned now then go ahead. anything after 17 weeks is ok if it is needed. do be careful though in that waking in the night is not necessarily a sign that weaning is needed as babies have growth spurts at 4 months old which does often result in then wanting to feed in the night all of a sudden. however, given your son is already on 9oz of stage 2, i think it may be a good idea for you to start giving him something as he clearly is a hungry boy!

If he's ready do it. I started weaning my dd at 4 1/2 months and never looked back. My ds is 11 weeks and I'm tempted to start him on a bit of baby rice as he's showing the exact same signs my dd was showing just before we started her off. X

My sister was weaned at 4 months, I was weaned at 4.5 months. I would suggest try hungry baby formula but if he is STILL not satisfied try a litle baby food, he will let you know if he is ready for it or not. Don't worry. xx

Thanks so much everyone. He seems to be getting hungier by the day,I was hoping to hold him off untill he was six months but I really don't think he will last.

hello i have the same problem my baby girl is nearly 5mnths old, still wakes in the night, didnt know if shes not getting full enough now from breast milk and wondered if shes ready for weaning now?? i heard they say try and mean from 6mnths not earlier but if shes ready now is it not a problem to try? im sure ya know if they wasnt ready yet? thanks!
