She may just want to discuss weaning not neccessarily about starting now. My youngest son was 4 weeks early but he was a very good weight at 7lb 10oz. He was constantly hungry and never satisfied and after trying everything my HV suggested and failing, she advised me to wean him at 11 weeks. He was a happier baby all round. I don't think prem babies are weaned early very often as it isn't normally recommended. I think she probably wants to know if your son is showing any signs, when you plan to begin weaning, how to go about it, that sort of stuff, so you can plan in advance and I expect she is just double checking that you know what to do, when to do it and you are comfortable with the whole weaning process when the time comes.

My son was born 5 weeks early weighing 5lb 10, he's now 6 months, he is also a hungry baby and never satified. Started weaning 3 weeks ago which at the moment is proving quite a challenge, he was born with a respiratory problem which alot of the time he brings up his solids and his milk, my HV just advised to take things slower with him, and not to rush him with his solids, but thats easier said than done as he's not satifised with just his milk, and I also have another little boy of 19months who just wants to run around.

Hi. My Health Visitor came out quite early to discuss weaning but I think they just like to prepare you well in advance. My little girl was born 8 weeks early, weighing 3lb 12oz and the Health Visitor advised that we wait until she was at least 6 months old before weaning and take things slowly which is what we did. She's almost 8 months now and fully weaned.
