Travelling with your babyhelp
help
finally, iv been trying to post this for over a week!
im moving house next week and roby will be 6 months old (he is going to nanas whilst we move stuff) just wondering if anyone has moved house with a little baby and how did the cope?
he knows whats familiar so im worried he wont settle :( he is going to be in his own room from day one in the new house.
any advice please :)
Hi Sam how exciting I love moving house lol! My only advice would be to get his room done first with all his familiar things in it and other than that they usually adapt well to change, as long as they've got you and dad and favourite toys! I haven't moved with a baby, just a 3 year old but would imagine that its easier with a baby than an older child as they aren't at the nightmare stage yet or believing in monsters etc!
Good luck with the move! xx
Im really excited, we have had to do our washing at the MILs since living here as we cant get a washing machine small enough to fit in lol. so we went and ordered one the other day to be delivered on friday, thats what im most excited about!!! haha what has my life come to lol :)
im probably worrying over nothing coz he has always been a good baby and will settle anywhere so he will probs be fine, i think im more worried about him going in his own room as it will be decorated different etc x
Oh i see what you mean, he's still in with you at the moment and will be going in his own room when you move, didn't get that doh! I think it will be good to do it all at once to be honest! I'm sure he'll be fine, I didn't move grumpy into his own room till he was 7 months (kept putting it off lol!) and he actually settled better in there when I finally did it. Oh washing machines - how did people manage without them! Ours broke a few months ago and needed a new part and while we were waiting my mil did our washing for us - and she dried it and folded it all nicely I was quite disappointed when I had to do it myself again!
Oh it will be nice when you get settled in for xmas won't it and get your tree up and make it all magical! xx
yea we tried him in his own room here but it was wen he got a throat infection so didnt work and we never bothered trying again.
its gonna be really nice as our landlord here wont let us decorate so its all magnolia but wer allowed to add our own little touches to the new one :) and i just got some reimbursed money i was owed so thats going towards decorating :) yay!!
Hiya,
we moved when our LO was 6 months and did exactly the same, put him in his own room from day 1 of the move and it was the best thing that we ever did!!!
We didn't really make a fuss about it for him. . .we made sure he had his usual teddy and blanket in his cot with him (although at 6 months he was never bothered about what toy/blanket he had), we just followed the same routine that we always followed and didn't have any problems what so ever INFACT he slept better in his own room in the new house better than he did in ours.
We have just moved again (now he is 17 months) and I was a bit worried how he was going to react but the house needed a lot of renovation so we had the keys 2 weeks before we moved in. .I got my OH to do his room first adn then each day I would go down to the house and take our LO to play in his room and then when we finally moved in (2 weeks ago) he was that excited that he actually got to sleep in his room that he played in there by himself for over an hour before he finally fell to sleep on the floor!! . .AGAIN, we haven't had any problems with it!
The adjust a lot better than you think!
Take care, enjoy your new home
Lea xx
thanks lea :) wer getting the keys a few days before so we can decorate before we move in so il let him play in there whilst were working lol xx
olivia was older when we moved house last year (she was 2 1/2 yrs old) but we didnt make a big thing of it. we showed her around the house and made sure we spent some time in her new bedroom before bedtime but carried on with her routine as normal and didnt make a fuss and she was absolutely fine.
we did the same thing when she went into her own bedroom at 6 mths old - ie went with the normal routine and didnt do anything out of the ordinary and again, she was absolutely fine.
